Season’s Choice Crispy Green Beans

I’m a fan of the name-brand Birds Eye brand frozen Crispy Green Beans. I buy them at my local regular grocery store and toss them in my air fryer for a few minutes. They come out crisp and delicious every time, making a fun snack or a good side to accompany some turkey burgers.
This week, I noticed Aldi is selling its own take on Birds Eye Crispy Green Beans. The discount grocer is selling Crispy Green Beans under its Season’s Choice house brand. Season’s Choice isn’t a company. It’s simply the name Aldi puts on many of its frozen veggies.
The Aldi Crispy Green Beans are available in two flavors — Ranch and Nashville Hot — while supplies last. I picked up one bag of each.
Season’s Choice Crispy Green Beans are Aldi Finds. That means they’re only in stores for a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and they’re gone after they sell out. Aldi does not offer online ordering if these are sold out at your local Aldi. When these are in stock, you’ll find them in the Aldi Find freezer aisle.
We buy Aldi products with our own money. I paid $4.99 for each 12-ounce package of Season’s Choice Crispy Green Beans at my local Aldi in December of 2024. That’s around 42 cents per ounce. Each bag has four servings, so that’s about $1.25 per serving.
I found Target selling plain breaded Birds Eye Crispy Green Beans at the same time for $3.19 for 12 ounces, or around 27 cents per ounce. That means you’re paying more for the Aldi beans, but they do come in some different flavors, if that’s worth it to you.
If you’re looking out for allergens, both Season’s Choice Crispy Green Beans varieties contain milk and wheat.
These contain some processed ingredients including maltodextrin and natural flavors.
One 16-piece serving of the Ranch Flavored Crispy Green Beans has 200 calories, 12 grams of total fat (15% DV), 2 grams of saturated fat (10% DV), 570 mg of sodium (25% DV), 21 grams of total carbohydrates (8% DV), 2 grams of dietary fiber (7% DV), 2 grams of total sugars, no added sugars, and 3 grams of protein.

One 16-piece serving of Nashville Hot Flavored Crispy Green Beans has 200 calories, 12 grams of total fat (15% DV), 2 grams of saturated fat (10% DV), 620 mg of sodium (27% DV), 21 grams of total carbohydrates (8% DV), 2 grams of dietary fiber (7% DV), 4 grams of total sugars, 3 grams of added sugars (6% DV), and 2 grams of protein.

The bags have directions for cooking these in a countertop air fryer, a conventional oven, or a deep fryer.
To air fry, preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees. Coat the basket or rack with nonstick cooking spray. Empty package contents onto the bottom of the air fryer basket or rack. Coat with nonstick cooking spray. Cook for 10-14 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. Let stand for 2 minutes before serving.
To bake in a conventional oven, preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Coat a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray. Arrange package contents in a single layer on the baking sheet. Coat with nonstick cooking spray. Place the baking sheet in the oven on the middle rack. Bake for 12-18 minutes, turning halfway through baking, until golden brown and crispy. Let stand 2 minutes before serving.
To deep fry, fill the deep fryer unit with vegetable oil to the oil level line. Heat the oil to 375 degrees. Add package contents. (Be careful as splattering may occur.) Cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Drain green beans on paper towels. Let stand 2 minutes before serving.

I air fried these one flavor at a time. They all came out hot and crispy after 10 minutes. The Nashville Hot ones have more breading, while the Ranch ones had plenty of breading but weren’t quite as evenly coated. The green beans get pretty soft inside, but the outer breading is definitely crispy.
The Ranch green beans taste good, but they don’t have the strongest Ranch flavor. They’re more similar to the plain Birds Eye Crispy Green Beans I’ve had before.
Meanwhile, the Nashville Hot green beans are spicy as the name implies. They are medium to hot in terms of spice. Everyone has different personal preferences, but they were a bit much for me, and I’m typically okay with foods up to a medium spice level. Dipping them in ranch does help to cut the spice.

The Verdict:
Season’s Choice Crispy Green Beans are similar to name-brand Birds Eye Crispy Green Beans. The Aldi green beans come in Ranch or Nashville Hot flavors. The Ranch ones taste good but are a bit lacking in Ranch flavor, while the Nashville Hot ones lean toward the higher end of spicy. These are a nice, crispy alternative to French fries. We recommend air frying them.
