Whole & Simple Chicken Chimichurri Rice & Quinoa Bowl
I love trying all the endless variations on single-serving frozen meals that Aldi puts out through its Whole & Simple product line. This brand (which is not a company) focuses on meals that are less processed and generally are better for you than the average frozen meal you find at the grocery store.
The latest pair of Whole & Simple meals to show up in the Aldi Find freezer case are some rice and quinoa bowls. One features falafel, while the other features chimichurri chicken.
Here, I’m taking a closer look at the chimichurri bowl. The package describes this as brown rice and red quinoa with chicken breast, broccoli, onion, red peppers, spinach, and yellow carrots over a rich tomato chimichurri sauce.
The Whole & Simple Chicken Chimichurri Rice & Quinoa Bowl is an Aldi Find. That means it’s in stores for a short time only. Each store is supposed to get one shipment, and it’s gone after that sells out, unless Aldi decides to bring it back later. Aldi does not offer online ordering if this is out of stock at your local store.
I bought this with my own funds for $3.29 for a 9.5-ounce package the week of August 27th, 2025. That comes out to about 35 cents per ounce.
This is a product of Canada.

If you’re looking out for allergens, this contains milk.
One package equals one serving, which has 260 calories, 6 grams of total fat (8% DV), 1 gram of saturated fat (6% DV), 500 mg of sodium (22% DV), 29 grams of total carbohydrates (11% DV), 3 grams of dietary fiber (12% DV), 3 grams of total sugars, no added sugars, and 16 grams of protein.
This has a carbs-to-fiber ratio of 9.7:1, which is decent. It does have a moderate amount of sodium.
The box has directions for cooking this in the microwave. Remove the tray from the box and pierce the film. Microwave on high for 4-5 minutes, stirring halfway through cooking time. Let stand for 1 minute before serving.

I don’t like this as much as the falafel bowl Aldi sold alongside it, but it’s fine. It features plenty of veggies and whole grains, with a decent amount of chicken. The sauce is upper mild in terms of spicy, without a lot of other flavor besides the spiciness.
The Verdict:
The Whole & Simple Chicken Chimichurri Rice & Quinoa Bowl offers up lots of brown rice and quinoa with chicken and veggies in a sauce that’s on the higher end of mild. We wish this had a little less sodium, and maybe more flavor in the sauce besides just spiciness. Otherwise, we like all the healthy grains and veggies.
