Aldi Play Fashion Dolls

It’s no secret that Aldi loves to release Aldi-themed merchandise. Apparel and toys are big hits, but Aldi releases a variety of other items throughout the year. (We have Aldi ornaments that hang on our tree every Christmas.)

As a long-time Aldi shopper and doll enthusiast, I’ll admit I’ve thought about what it might be like if Aldi decided to sell its own Barbie-style dolls. While they weren’t Barbie-style dolls, years ago, Aldi released 18” American Girl dupes under the Bee Happy house label. However, they weren’t hot sellers, at least in our area. Aldi has not done anything else with its own doll lines.

Until now.

The Aldi Play 11.5” Fashion Dolls are Aldi Finds, which means they’re only in stores for a limited time. Each store gets one shipment and once they’re gone, they’re gone. You can’t order these dolls online if they’re out of stock at your local store. They were scheduled to be on store shelves starting February 11th, 2026, while supplies last.

The dolls are $14.99 each, which is about on par for the standard budget doll right now.

Each doll comes dressed in an Aldi-themed outfit, and each doll comes with her own Aldi tote bag and keychain with a quarter holder printed on it.

There are four dolls to choose from. There are two white dolls, a blonde named Blaire and a redhead named Zoe. There’s a doll with black hair and bangs named Sierra that appears to be of Asian descent, and there is an African American doll named Maya.

I purchased both Zoe and Maya. All four dolls have the same keychain, and they all have the same shoe mold but in different colors.

When these dolls were first revealed in the weekly Aldi ad, some people commented that the dolls look very similar to Disney ily dolls, primarily because of their faces. As it turns out, these dolls were manufactured by Jakks Pacific, one of two manufacturers of Disney ily dolls, the other company being the Disney Store itself.

So it’s not mere coincidence that the Aldi dolls bear a resemblance to the Disney dolls. Out of curiosity, I tried some of the Disney ily clothes I own on the Aldi dolls. While both dolls are the same height, their dimensions are different, so the name-brand ily clothes are a little baggy on the Aldi dolls, and ily shoes don’t fit them at all.

Each Aldi doll comes with a bio on the back, talking about their personality and about their love for Aldi. I don’t have the bios for Blaire or Sierra, but based on Zoe’s and Maya’s, they’re pretty similar. They talk about shopping and eating meals together with their “trusty Aldi tote.”

The dolls have the standard five points of articulation or movement: the neck, shoulders, and hips, but they also have articulation at the elbows, allowing for more pose-ability. To put this into perspective, Disney ily budget dolls will give you additional articulation at the wrists and knees and they cost $20. On the other end, Barbie’s budget line, Barbie Fashionistas, will only give you the classic five points, and they cost $10.

Unboxing the Dolls:

Unboxing the Aldi dolls was pretty standard, but I do want to mention one positive. Most dolls have plastic pieces inside the backs of their heads that attach them to the box. While this secures them, they’re a pain to remove from the packaging. Unless you’re lucky enough to rip the doll from the box with enough force to fully remove them, you’re usually left with clear pointy plastic threads at the back of their head, and they can only be trimmed down so far. So you can imagine my excitement when I discovered that these dolls weren’t anchored at the backs of their heads.

One common issue with dolls, especially cheaper ones, is the face printing. It’s common with budget dolls, specifically with the eyes, for them to be off center, or to be too close or far apart. Neither of the dolls I purchased had any issues with the alignment, but both faces do have a little pixelation, which is a sign of how the faces were printed. However, it’s better than a lot of budget dolls on the market today, and the average shopper who isn’t an avid doll collector may not notice or be concerned about this.

Starting off with Maya, I was inclined to purchase her because she has the most unique and delicate hair of the four girls. Her hair is not something that should be brushed. Spritz it with some water and finger brush it, or if you a have a doll hair pick, just use that. Her hair appears to be of good quality, and the curls are really pretty and defined. Just know that they may not last if you give her to a young child. She comes in a one-piece outfit that resembles a shirt and skirt, boasting the Aldi logo on the top. She comes with what I’ll call pastel orange platform shoes, and she has an Aldi tote with blue handles and a keychain. Both dolls’ bags are a clear mesh.

Zoe was the other doll I purchased, and she comes in a sundress with an all-over Aldi logo print, pink shoes that are identical to Maya’s, and a tote with pink handles and an identical keychain to Maya. While Zoe’s outfit is my favorite of the two, the material for her dress feels cheaper than Maya’s. It’s got a crinkly paper feel, but that can be common with budget dolls because it’s cheaper to produce. I’m approaching this as a doll collector, but I know most children aren’t going to care too much. Zoe’s hair is easier to maintain, and you can brush it normally, but it is a bit poufy and frizzy, so I’d braid it or put it up somehow to preserve it for play.

Thoughts:

Overall, these dolls exceeded my expectations quality-wise, and they are undeniably cute. They are posable, have cute clothing and accessories, and are made by a trusted and reliable brand that did a great job on them. While they’re essentially walking advertisements for Aldi, they were still designed with style and kids’ interests in mind, and their clothes reflect a lot of the fashions seen on mainstream dolls today. I think kids will be excited to play with them, and grownup Aldi fans will be happy to collect them.

The Verdict:

The Aldi Play 11.5” Fashion Dolls are $14.99 and are limited-time Aldi Finds. Aldi has never sold dolls like this before, so I was excited to see if they’re worth it. In my opinion, they are. If you’re a devout Aldi Fan, these dolls are a super cute way to show your fandom. Even kids who don’t care about the Aldi branding will still love these. I would love to see more dolls added to the line in the future, or even additional fashion packs or playsets.
