A Child-Sized Aldi Shopping Cart with “Quarter Slot” is Rolling Into Aldi

Aldi has had a cult fan following for years now. The discount grocery store is the subject of multiple social media fan groups, and all that fandom has also spurred the creation of a whole line of Aldi-branded products that customers scoop up quickly whenever they hit the middle aisle shelves. I’ve seen everything from Aldi-branded socks and hoodies and joggers and pajamas to Aldi-branded insulated cups and quarter holders and ugly Christmas sweaters and bags and beanie hats.

A couple of years ago, Aldi decided to get its youngest customers in on all the fandom fun as well. Aldi introduced a child-sized play Aldi grocery market complete with shelves, a cash register, and the Aldi logo prominently displayed. Around the same time, Aldi released some play Aldi market food sets that featured play food that looked just like all kinds of familiar Aldi brands, from Millville cereal to Cheese Club mac and cheese. They also sold Aldi-branded reusable child-sized shopping bags and wallets with play money to complete the play shopping experience.

But one iconic Aldi thing was missing from all these play sets: the unique Aldi shopping quart with a slot for a quarter deposit and a chain for hooking it up to other carts in the corral.

Aldi has finally remedied this issue. The latest weekly Aldi ad features a child-sized toy shopping cart stamped with the Aldi logo, and the cart has a quarter-holding device and chain attached to the handle just like a real Aldi shopping cart.

What We Know:

Jakks Aldi Shopping Cart

The Jakks Aldi Shopping Cart (Product Code: 710882) is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store receives one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back at some later time. Aldi does not offer online ordering if this is sold out at your local store.

This Aldi toy shopping cart is scheduled to arrive in stores on February 14th, 2024.

The Jakks Aldi Shopping Cart cost $14.99 at the time of publication. That’s less than most play shopping carts on Amazon, and you’re getting the Aldi logo.

Aldi is selling this shopping cart alongside a redesigned play Aldi food market, and you can purchase play food, Aldi shopping baskets, and wallets and play money separately as well.

Jakks is not an Aldi-exclusive brand. It’s a company based in Santa Monica, California, that sells a variety of toys, including movie-branded dolls or action figures, play kitchens, and even Target play shopping sets with red shopping carts and cash registers and familiar Target-branded play foods. Aldi is not a stranger to occasionally stocking Jakks products in its middle aisle, and I’ve seen music mats, Disney-branded dolls, and character-themed wagons among other toys over the years.

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t purchased this toy Aldi shopping cart, so we don’t know how sturdy it is or what its dimensions are. It looks like the cart has a seat for a doll or favorite stuffed animal, but we aren’t sure since we haven’t yet seen the cart for ourselves. We also don’t know if or how the pretend quarter holder actually works on the cart handle, or if it’s just for show. We write open threads to provide readers with a place to talk about Aldi products.

  1. 1′ long x 10″ wide x 16″ tall.
Got 2 to see if they would hook together & they do.
However, would be hard for a young child to pull them back apart or take the play quarter back out.
Kind of flimsy, comparable to the cheaper shopping carts out there.
