Aldi Recalls Select Kirkwood Broccoli & Cheese Stuffed Chicken and Kirkwood Cordon Bleu Stuffed Chicken

Today Aldi announced a recall of some Kirkwood Broccoli & Cheese Stuffed Chicken and Kirkwood Cordon Bleu Stuffed Chicken. These are sold in individual wrappers in the frozen section. This is part of a larger recall of individually wrapped stuffed chicken found in other stores, all made by Serenade Farms.

According to the FDA, the following are subject to the recall:

  • 5-oz individually plastic-wrapped packages of “KIRKWOOD Raw Stuffed CHICKEN, BROCCOLI & CHEESE” with lot code BR 1055 and BEST IF USED BY FEB 24 2023.
  • 5-oz individually plastic-wrapped packages of “KIRKWOOD Raw Stuffed CHICKEN CORDON BLEU” with lot code CB 1056 and BEST IF USED BY FEB 25 2023.

In Association with Serenade Foods, ALDI Voluntarily Recalls Kirkwood Broccoli & Cheese Stuffed Chicken and Kirkwood Cordon Bleu Stuffed Chicken from Select Stores Due to Possible Salmonella Enteritidis Contamination

Batavia, Ill. (August 11, 2021) – In cooperation with Serenade Foods, and out of an abundance of caution, ALDI is voluntarily recalling Kirkwood Broccoli & Cheese Stuffed Chicken and Kirkwood Cordon Bleu Stuffed Chicken as a precautionary measure due to possible contamination with Salmonella Enteritidis.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), consumption of food contaminated with Salmonella can cause salmonellosis, one of the most common bacterial foodborne illnesses. The most common symptoms of salmonellosis are diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within 12 to 72 hours after eating the contaminated product. The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days. Most people recover without treatment. In some persons, however, the symptoms may be so severe that the patient needs to be hospitalized. Older adults, infants, and persons with weakened immune systems are more likely to develop more severe symptoms. Individuals concerned about an illness should contact their health care provider.

Upon notification from the supplier, ALDI immediately removed the affected product of Broccoli & Cheese Stuffed Chicken from select ALDI stores in Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Additionally, ALDI immediately removed the affected product of Cordon Bleu Stuffed Chicken from select ALDI stores in Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.

The items were also available for purchase through the company’s partnership with Instacart, a grocery delivery service.

No other ALDI products are affected by this recall.

ALDI takes the safety and integrity of the products it sells seriously. If customers have product affected by this voluntary recall, they should discard it immediately or return it to their local store for a full refund.

  1. I have about 6 to 10 of the Kirkwood chicken cordon blue individually wrapped raw chicken. Mine does not have the date you all wrote about. But l want a full refund as l am scared to eat it now due to salmanella outbreak. Please advise me what to do.

    • If your chicken isn’t marked with the dates mentioned above, it should be fine. If you’re still concerned, take it back to Aldi.

  2. Thank you so much for posting this! I was looking at the review of the stuffed ravioli and noticed this. I would’ve been completely unaware. I checked all 6 of mine and they’re the ones listed in the recall.
