Ambiano Handheld Sewing Machine

Some members of my household like to craft. That includes sewing. I’m not skilled beyond simple mending by hand and reattaching buttons, but one family member took a couple of semesters of apparel and textiles classes (another term for sewing) in high school and learned how to use sewing machines. She even reviewed the small sewing machine Aldi tends to sell once a year.

So, I was intrigued when I saw Aldi featuring a handheld sewing machine in its weekly ad for September 10th, 2025. To the best of my knowledge, this appears to be a new product I’ve never seen Aldi sell before.

Ambiano Handheld Sewing Machine

The Ambiano Handheld Sewing Machine is an Aldi Find, which means it’s in stores for a short time only. Each store should receive one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back later. Aldi does not offer online ordering if this is out of stock at your local store.

The Ambiano Handheld Sewing Machine cost $9.99 in 2025. That’s at least half the price of similar handheld sewing machines I found on Amazon.

Here’s more info, according to the package:

  • A simple, convenient handheld sewing machine that’s easy to use
  • Ideal for beginners or masters in sewing
  • Sew your pants, shirts, pillowcases, and crafts
  • Portable, lightweight, and cordless
  • Battery powered (four AA batteries included)

This is sold under the Ambiano brand. That’s not a company. Instead, it’s the name Aldi puts on various home goods it sells, which it sources from different suppliers.

This comes with a one-year warranty serviced by Wuensche, a common Aldi warranty service provider. For service, call 866-558-8096 or email service@801service.net.

Unboxing the Sewing Machine:

What comes in the package. Take note that the smaller pieces such as the bobbins and extra needle are tucked inside a little paper envelope that’s easy to miss in the larger package.

This comes with the following:

  • one handheld sewing machine
  • one spindle
  • one needle threader
  • 2 needles
  • 3 bobbins with thread
  • 4 AA batteries
  • 1 instruction manual
  • 1 warranty information sheet

The machine comes with a piece of test fabric and some demonstration stitches already in it. It was pretty easy to add a few stitches to the test fabric. Slide the on/off/locking switch back with your thumb to the on position. Then press and hold the button down to start sewing. Hold the sewing machine in your right hand, ensuring your thumb is on the on/off switch, and support the machine from underneath with your other fingers. The sewing machine moves the fabric to the left, so hold the fabric with your left hand to ensure speed control/direction. Release the button when you’re done sewing.

The manual includes plenty of other more detailed information about how to thread the needle, knot the thread, adjust thread tension, replace the needle, install a new thread spool, and more.

Using the Sewing Machine:

I often find a regular sewing machine to be frustrating and daunting to use. While there is still a learning curve to using this handheld sewing machine, I feel it’s more easily accessible. I still had to sit and study the manual and fiddle with the machine some, including removing the thread spool, untangling the thread, and reattaching the thread spool. I’m not sure if the thread got tangled in shipping or if I tangled it while learning the ins and outs of the machine. I then rethreaded the needle, which wasn’t difficult.

Before long, I was able to do some simple stitches to start making a pillow for a doll bed. I’m still figuring it all out, and I’m watching some YouTube videos with similar machines under different brands to help, especially with certain things like tying off a knot after sewing, which I had trouble figuring out how to do just by looking at the manual.

But still, I can see this machine having real promise for doing certain quick mending jobs, such as re-hemming a pillowcase or a skirt that’s coming undone. That certainly has some economic benefit, since it may help prolong the life of my clothes and linens. I think some of my teenagers — even the ones who don’t already use a sewing machine — may find this useful for their various craft projects as well.

The Verdict:

We’re putting the Ambiano Handheld Sewing Machine through the paces, but so far it looks promising for small crafts and little projects. We’re still figuring it all out, but so far this looks like a nifty little gadget for everything from doll bedding to simple mending of hems and more. The manual isn’t perfect but is fairly easy to figure out. You also can’t beat the $10 price tag. We’ll update this post after we’ve had more time with the machine.
