Barissimo Coffee Iced Lattes
When we go on long trips, there’s a good chance that we’ll stop at a monster gas station like Wally’s or Buc-cee’s along the way. And when we do, I often end up leaving with a Starbucks frappe.
Starbucks sells a few different flavors of iced frappes in glass bottles at gas stations and grocery stores. They’re a great, if a little pricey, way to get my coffee fix. Not long ago, I spotted three different iced latte flavors at Aldi that looked oddly similar to the Starbucks bottles, so I bought all three.
The labels describe these as coffee & milk beverages. The main ingredients are coffee, reduced fat milk, and sugar. When I drink coffee, it has to be doctored up like this with milk and sugar to hide the bitterness, and all of these drinks are right up my alley. The same goes for others in my family who drink coffee.
They come in the following flavors: caramel, mocha, and French vanilla.
The Barissimo Coffee Iced Lattes are $1.79 for 13.7 ounces. We buy Aldi products for review with our own money.
They are Regular Buys, meaning they’re in stores year-round. You should be able to find them either in the refrigerator aisle or on the room-temperature shelves among the other beverages. Once opened, they should be refrigerated.
These Aldi drinks are labeled as lattes, while their Starbucks counterparts are labelled as frappes.
So what’s the difference?
By definition, a frappe is a blend of instant coffee, water, sugar, and milk, and is typically blended with ice. A latte is espresso and milk. If you were ordering these drinks at a coffee shop, they’d be different from each other. When it comes to these bottled drinks, though, the Aldi and Starbucks drinks are not noticeably different in terms of taste.
Before opening, the labels say these lattes should be shaken well, which mixes the flavors, especially the coffee, so the first few sips aren’t straight coffee flavor. The lids on the these bottles aren’t great, and they don’t screw back on easily, so it’s best to drink them in one sitting.
If allergens are a concern, all of these contain milk.
Barissimo Coffee Caramel Iced Latte:
The Barissimo Coffee Caramel Iced Latte has 290 calories, 5 grams of total fat, 3.5 grams of saturated fat, 210 milligrams of sodium, 51 grams of total carbohydrates, 48 grams of total sugars, and 34 grams of added sugars.

Caramel is my go-to flavor when I get iced coffee like this, so I was most excited to try this one. I wasn’t disappointed. The caramel flavor is sweet and pretty noticeable, and the coffee, while definitely there, is toned down enough to not have the bitter flavor that a lot of coffees have.
Barissimo Coffee Mocha Iced Latte:
The Barissimo Coffee Mocha Iced Latte has 290 calories, 5 grams of total fat, 3.5 grams of saturated fat, 210 milligrams of sodium, 51 grams of total carbohydrates, 48 grams of total sugars, and 33 grams of added sugars.

Compared to the other flavors, the mocha is on the more bitter side. Mocha is a type of coffee mixed with chocolate, but unlike the other flavors, the chocolate isn’t as sweet, making the coffee flavor stand out more. This is a matter of personal preference.
Barissimo Coffee French Vanilla Iced Coffee:
The Barissimo Coffee French Vanilla Iced Latte has 290 calories, 5 grams of total fat, 3.5 grams of saturated fat, 210 milligrams of sodium, 51 grams of total carbohydrates, 48 grams of total sugars, and 34 grams of added sugars.

This flavor and the mocha flavor have the strongest coffee flavor. The coffee is sweet, but the vanilla flavor is most prominent in the aftertaste. I still liked this one more than the mocha.
Our Thoughts:
My own personal ranking of these lattes would be caramel at the top, followed by French vanilla, and mocha. Caramel was the sweetest and the flavor was the most noticeable. French vanilla was more coffee-flavored, but with a hint of sweetness and vanilla. Mocha tasted the most bitter, and the chocolate wasn’t super sweet.
The Verdict:
Barissimo Coffee Iced Lattes are $1.79 each and are Regular Buys Aldi sells all the time. They taste very similar to brands like Starbucks, and they are much more affordable. I’ll definitely be buying some of these again in the future.
