Belavi Metal Garden Sign

I have several raised garden beds in my backyard, and I grow a variety of flowers, native plants, herbs, fruits, and veggies each year. For anyone with the gardening bug, Aldi is a hidden gem when it comes to finding tools and accessories, plants, seeds, bulbs, and decorations to outfit your garden space. I’ve lost track of all the gardening supplies I’ve purchased from the discount grocer over the years, but some of my finds have included a walk-in greenhouse, 4-tier greenhouse, grow lights, potting mix, trellises, planters, mini drop over greenhouses, garden hats, indoor smart gardens, and more.

While you can certainly find serious gardening supplies at Aldi like those mentioned above, the grocer also rotates some more whimsical and fun garden accessories into the middle aisle. This week, Aldi sold some metal garden signs in various designs, and there was one sign I simply couldn’t resist adding to my garden. As someone who has composted my household’s produce scraps, used tea bags, and additional otherwise-landfill-bound items for several years now, it was a nice surprise to find a garden sign at Aldi that states: “Trespassers will be composted.” Whether the sign is funny, or a little morbid, or both, I’ll leave you to decide.

Belavi Metal Garden Sign

This particular sign was one of several garden sign designs at Aldi this week. Other signs featured sayings such as “Garden rules: relax, unwind, enjoy” and “Meet me in the garden” and “Love grows here.”

The Belavi Metal Garden Sign (Product Code: 711122) is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store receives one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back later. You can’t order this online if it’s not currently in stock at your area store.

This cost $4.99 at the time of publication. For that price, you might decide to buy several different designs.

The sign in the packaging.

Here are some specifications on the garden signs, according to the packaging:

  • Hang on a wall or place in the ground with the stake provided
  • Maximum heigh of 10.4 inches with the stake
  • Rust resistant

The signs themselves — without the stake / hanger are different sizes and shapes depending on which design you buy. The one I purchased is just under 11 inches wide and about six inches tall without the stake.

This is sold under the Belavi brand. There is no company called Belavi. Instead, that’s the private label Aldi puts on various garden products that it sources from a variety of suppliers.

To get this sign out of the package, you’ll have to unscrew a small black wingnut on the back of the sign. This wingnut not only holds the sign in the box; it also attaches the sign to a U-shaped piece of metal that serves as either a stake for in-ground use or a hanger for displaying the sign on a wall or door.

Because the wingnut sticks out substantially, I don’t know that this sign is best for hanging on a wall. The wingnut will make the sign stick out on one side. I bought this with the intention of sticking it in the ground in my garden, so that’s not an issue for me.

Positioned for hanging.

If you decide to hang the sign, you’ll position the U-shaped metal piece so it goes above the sign and serves as a hanger, and then you’ll screw in the wingnut. If you put the sign in the ground, you’ll position the U-shaped metal piece so the ends stick out below the sign, and then you’ll screw in the wingnut.

This sign is easy to put together regardless of how you decide to use it. You don’t need any tools to assemble it.

In my garden. It is early spring, so don’t mind the bare, messy garden.

I popped this sign into my largest raised garden bed, which is not far from my compost bin. It looks great and should be a fun conversation piece during backyard cookouts.

The only thing that remains to be seen is how well the sign holds up to the weather and sunshine. I’ll updated this post with any new developments.

The Verdict:

The Belavi Metal Garden Sign comes in several designs with different sayings. I have long been interested in composting, so I bought a sign that states “Trespassers will be composted.” The sign was easy to put together without any tools, and it can be hung on a wall or door or placed directly in the ground using the included stake / hanger. I’m looking forward to enjoying this humorous sign in my garden throughout the growing season.
