Calling All Green Thumbs: Aldi is Selling a Plant Grow Light
This post is an open thread.
EDITOR’S NOTE: We purchased this grow light once it arrived in stores. Read our full review here.
Aldi is one of my favorite places to buy gardening supplies. The discount grocer rotates live plants and even vegetable and herb seeds into its rotation at different times of the year. Aldi also sells decorative ceramic planters, raised planters, wooden planters, stacking planters, walk-in greenhouses, drop-over greenhouses, tumbling composters, and all kinds of garden décor.
During the spring and summer months, new finds tend to pop up at Aldi as quickly as the sprouts in my garden. Winter, naturally, tends to be a time when I don’t see many gardening products at Aldi. This year, though, Aldi surprised me by selling a grow light for cultivating plants indoors.
What We Know:
The Gardenline Dual-Head Plant Grow Light (Product Code: 706124) cost $34.99 in February of 2022. It looks a lot like this GooingTop grow light sold on Amazon, except that the GooingTop light cost about $10 less at the time of publication. I don’t yet have dimensions or other specifics for the Aldi light to determine if there is a reason the Aldi light costs more.
The Gardenline grow light is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Aldi does not offer online ordering for specials after they sell out at your local store.
This is the first time I’ve ever seen Aldi sell a plant grow light. The next-closest thing would be the indoor smart garden Aldi sold in the spring of 2021, which featured a hydroponic tank system with LED lights.

What We Don’t Know:
I have not yet gotten my hands on one of these grow lights, but as soon as they hit my local Aldi shelves I’ll try to score one and put it through the paces. In the meantime, I don’t yet know how well this light works or how durable it is. At Aldi Reviewer, our goal with open thread posts such as this one is to provide a space for readers to talk about their experience with a product.
