Belmont Chocolate Crème Pie

We’ve written about a lot of different desert items at Aldi through the years, including ice cream, cookies, cake, and more. This also includes pies. We’ve reviewed a variety of pies, from pie crusts to Belmont apple and cherry pies, to the Trader Joe’s Chicken Pot Pie. And now, Aldi has introduced a new seasonal pie: the Belmont Chocolate Crème Pie.

The Belmont Chocolate Creme Pie is $5.99 for a 25.5-ounce pie. This is a seasonal item. This means it’s on shelves longer than an Aldi Find, but it doesn’t last all year. We predict it should be here through the fall and winter, and possibly through New Year’s. The box reads “rich chocolate and whipped crème layers in a chocolaty cookie crust.” It’s a product of Germany. This is sold in a mixed case in the freezer section alongside the Belmont Whipped Cheesecake.

There are 8 servings in each pie. Each serving has 280 calories, 13g of total fat, 9g of saturated fat, 16mg of sodium, 36g of total carbohydrates, 20g of total sugars, and 19g of added sugars. If allergens are a concern, this pie does contain milk, wheat, and soy. It may also contain tree nuts and egg. It’s also Rainforest Alliance Certified, which means the cocoa used in this pie was produced in a way that’s better for farmers and the ecosystem.

Right off the bat, I thought this pie’s presentation was nice. The multiple layers look really cool, along with the whipped cream and chocolate chips sprinkled on top. When you first get the pie, you have to remove it from the box and let it thaw in the fridge for 2-3 hours, or at room temperature for 1-2 hours. If you want to play it safe, I would recommend around half a day to make sure it isn’t hard. One small thing I found was that the plastic lid that covers the pie isn’t incredibly stable, which wasn’t fun when taking it in and out of the fridge.

Now, I’ve never been a huge chocolate person, but my family and I thought this pie was amazing. The chocolate and whipped cream both have a creamy texture, and the chocolate flavor almost reminds me of chocolate ice cream. The box describes the crust as a cookie crust, and this is most certainly true. The crust has a distinctive flavor that could almost be described as the flavor of Oreo cookies.

The Verdict:

The Belmont Chocolate Crème Pie is a gem in the Aldi seasonal lineup. I’ve never been a huge chocolate or pie person, but I can safely say this is one of the best pies I’ve had, and the rest of the family would most likely agree. Will we buy one of these again at some point? The answer could quite possibly be yes.
