Boulder Strong Trash Bags

Having trash bags to line your kitchen trash can with is essential. Also important in my household is that we have trash bags that are strong enough that they don’t rip open and spill garbage. However, I don’t like to spend a lot of money on trash bags that are just going to get … thrown in the trash.

Enter, Aldi.

The discount grocer stocks several types of trash bags in the aisle with other household goods such as toilet paper, paper towels, and cleaning supplies. Aldi has tall trash bags, odor-control trash bags, and drawstring trash bags, to name a few.

The Aldi trash bags I prefer are the thick, black, four-flap, heavy-duty bags. The box states these Aldi bags are comparable to name-brand Glad Large Trash Quick Tie bags.

Boulder Strong Trash Bags are a Regular Buy. That means you should be able to find them at Aldi all year.

The Boulder brand is an Aldi private label that encompasses various household goods such as aluminum foil, plastic wrap, sandwich bags, paper towels, and similar items that Aldi sources from different suppliers. There is no company called Boulder. The Boulder name simply gives all of these products a uniform look.

We buy Aldi products with our own funds. I paid $6.19 in April of 2025 for a box of 40 trash bags. That comes out to about 15 cents per bag.

For comparison, I found a 40-pack of Glad Quick-Tie bags on sale for around 37 cents per bag at Walmart. That makes the Aldi trash bags look like a pretty good deal.

Aldi sells a few other trash bag options. One is the Boulder Flex Extra Strong Tall Kitchen Drawstring bag (comparable to Glad Tall Kitchen ForceFlex Plus bags), which sold for $9.69 for 80 bags at my local store in 2025, or around 12 cents per bag. There are also Boulder Large Strong Trash Drawstring bags (comparable to Hefty Large Trash Drawstring bags), which sold for $7.29 for 28 bags, or about 26 cents per bag. Finally, there are Boulder Tall Drawstring Kitchen Bags (comparable to Glad Tall Kitchen Drawstring bags), which sold for $6.29 for 45 bags, or around 14 cents per bag.

I prefer the large four flap trash bags shown here because they’re strong, easy to use, and aren’t the most expensive trash bags at Aldi.

These trash bags are large, four-flap bags. Neither the Aldi bags nor the name-brand Glad version have string ties. Instead, they have four flaps that easily come together so you can tie the bag shut.

The Aldi bags and the Glad bags have the same measurements: 2 feet, 6 inches by 2 feet, 9 inches by 0.81 millimeters. They both fit containers or trash cans up to 30 gallons.

The fine print on the Aldi trash bag box states the Aldi bags are not manufactured or distributed by The Glad Products Company.

As I mentioned earlier, I prefer these trash bags over others from Aldi. They’re durable, easy to use, and do what they need to do: namely, deal with household trash.

The Verdict:

Boulder Strong Trash Bags are comparable to name-brand Glad Quick-Tie trash bags. They’re thick enough that they don’t easily tear open, and they’re also a good deal compared to the name brand. We’ve been happily using these in our own kitchen for years.
