Crane Premium Slides

Slides are a kind of footwear that operate by holding the shoe sole to the heel with a strap at the front, similar to a flip-flop. Slide-style sandals date back to ancient times, but their popularity has seen a resurgence in recent decades. It’s not uncommon, at least in the mid-2020s, to see kids and teens wearing branded slides, sometimes with socks. Time will tell how long the trend lasts, but for now, the trend is here.

Aldi seems to know a good trend when it sees one, so I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised that, in the summer of 2025, the grocer decided to stock its own slides as a limited buy.

Crane Premium Slides are an Aldi Find, which means you can only find them in stores for a limited time. Once they’re sold out, you won’t be able to get them again until they come back, whenever that might be. Aldi doesn’t ship products online, so if you can’t find them in your local stores, you’re out of luck.

In 2026, the slides retailed for $8.99, the same price as 2025. Name-brand slides can run twice that amount, and even off-brand slides tend to cost more. From a price perspective, these are a very good deal.

The packaging doesn’t say who made them other than that they are a product of China. There is no warranty. The package also says the footwear have a molded footbed for comfort, come with double-density foam, and have a non-leather upper.

The slides are a unisex design but come in both men’s and women’s sizes. Colors vary from year to year but black and white seem common. Sizes also can vary from year to year. In 2025, the slides came in three men’s sizes (10-12) and three women’s sizes (8-10). This created a problem for me because I wear a men’s size 9. A women’s size 10 is equivalent to a men’s 8 or 8.5, so this creates something of a size gap in the slides. After trying on the men’s 10 and the women’s 10, I decided to get the women’s 10 as it seemed the better fit for me.

My initial impression of the slides is that they aren’t bad. There is indeed a molded footbed that provides support at the toes and the arch, and I find the material to be comfortable. I was able to walk around in and out of the house with no problems. The fit on the top and tread on the bottom of do what I need them to.

The question with any non-name brand footwear is often durability, and in that area it’s too soon to tell. I’ll update this review down the road as I have more information to share about that.

The Verdict:

Crane Premium Slides are as inexpensive a pair of slides as you’ll find. While I had some trouble finding my exact size due to the options Aldi sold, what I got turned out to be comfortable. Time will tell on durability, although for this price you might not care too much.

UPDATE (June 2026): The slides are still in good shape after a year of occasional use.
