Fremont Fish Market Alaska Sockeye Salmon Burgers

Our family eats a lot fewer beef burgers these days. We opt instead for lean chicken patties or turkey burgers. Or, sometimes, we cook up some salmon burgers. Aldi has sold several types of salmon burgers over the years, but they don’t always seem to be available.

This week, Aldi is selling some different salmon burgers as a limited-time special. They’re available in two flavor varieties: garden veggie and spinach & feta. I noticed that these are made entirely with whole, easily recognizable ingredients and are not ultra-processed, which I appreciate. So, I bought a package of each to grill up at home.

Fremont Fish Market Alaska Sockeye Salmon Burgers are Aldi Finds. That means they’re in stores for just a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone unless Aldi decides to bring them back later. Aldi does not offer online ordering if these are out of stock at your local store.

These cost $4.49 for an 8-ounce package at my local Aldi in 2025. That’s around 56 cents an ounce. Each package contains two burgers, which comes out to about $2.25 per burger. We bought these with our own funds.

Fremont Fish Market is the Aldi house brand for seafood. It’s not a company.

The salmon was wild caught in Alaska in FAO 67 in the Northeastern part of the Pacific Ocean, using the gillnet catch method. The package has a seal of sustainability from the Marine Stewardship Council.

If you’re looking out for allergens, the spinach & feta salmon burgers contain sockeye salmon (fish) and milk. The garden veggie salmon burgers contain sockeye salmon (fish).

These salmon burgers should be kept frozen. The packages state that these should be cooked from frozen for best results. You can grill, pan fry, or bake them.

To grill, preheat the grill to 350 degrees. Grill for 10-11 minutes per side, only flipping once.

To pan fry, lightly oil the pan and cook over medium to medium-high heat for 5 minutes per side.

To bake, preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Place salmon burgers on a baking sheet and bake for 9-10 minutes per side.

These weren’t the easiest to get out of the shrink wrap-style packaging, and we found a good pair of kitchen scissors to be helpful. We decided to grill our salmon burgers. Even though we oiled our grill well, these still stuck a bit, so I might pan fry these if I make them again.

I served them on some whole wheat hamburger buns (not from Aldi), with accompaniments including sliced tomato and red onion, lettuce, and mayo. These salmon burgers are good. Some of us thought they were a bit more fishy-tasting than some other salmon we’ve had, but not bad. A few of us thought the spinach & feta salmon burgers were the better of the two options.

The Verdict:

Fremont Fish Market Alaska Sockeye Salmon Burgers are a limited-time special at Aldi. They come in two varieties: spinach & feta and garden veggie. We like both, although we slightly prefer the spinach & feta. We also like the fact that these are made with real, whole ingredients and aren’t ultra-processed.
