EDITOR’S NOTE: We bought this in 2023, and Aldi is selling similar hammock chairs again the week of April 22nd, 2026. Check out our review update at the bottom of this post.

As spring turns into summer, there is this window where the outdoor temperatures are pitch perfect. How perfect they are, and how long the window is, depends on where you live. In parts of the American South and Southwest, things can get either hot, or humid, or both pretty quickly. In much of the Midwest, it takes a little longer, but eventually heat and humidity take over. Depending on how far north you go, mild temperatures can persist through much of the summer.

Regardless, having a place to lounge outdoors is one of the simple pleasures of pitch perfect weather. Over the years, my family has purchased the likes of gliders, chairs, and porch swings for sitting outside to read, talk, or sit by the fire. We’ve also kept an eye out for things like swings for kids.

A while back, we stumbled on a hanging hammock chair that Aldi was selling. We decided to try it out.

Belavi Hanging Hammock Chair

The Belavi Hanging Hammock Chair (Model number: 58850) is an Aldi Find, which means you can only find it in stores for a limited time. Each store gets one shipment. Once it’s sold out, you won’t be able to find it in stores again until it comes back, whenever that might be. Fabric styles vary from year to year.

In 2025, the chair cost $19.99. That’s the same price it has cost going back to 2020, with the exception of 2022 when the price spiked to $29.99. This is on the low end of prices for hanging hammock chairs I can find.

Here’s more information about the hammock chair, according to Aldi:

  • Made with durable cotton and polyester fabric for maximum comfort
  • 39.3″ wooden spreader bar provides stability
  • Includes one removable pillow
  • Portable and easy to hang
  • For outdoor use
  • Weight capacity: 250 pounds
  • Dimensions: 22 inches long x 23.6 inches wide by 54 inches high

There is a caveat to the outdoor use part. The instructions note that “Chair and hanging strap is NOT weather resistant and NOT intended to be left outdoors. Always inspect chair and hanging strap prior to use for any sign of wear and do not use if signs of wear [sic] is present.”

The chair comes with a 1-year warranty serviced by Discover Home Products, a St. Louis, Missouri-based company.

The chair comes with a hanging hook, two carabiners, and a hanging strap. That allows it to be hung either by screwing the hanging hook into a sturdy tree branch or porch or deck girder, or by looping the hanging strap around a sturdy tree branch. The instructions repeatedly warn users to make sure whatever it is attached to can support the weight capacity, and that the chair should hang 3-4 feet off the ground. The instructions also warn that this is not a child’s toy and that children should be not left unattended with it.

Of note: the chair also comes with a carry bag, made of the same material as the chair fabric.

For our purposes, we attached our chair to a tree in our backyard using the hanging strap. The strap has multiple loops that can be threaded through to adjust the height — in that way it was nearly identical to the straps that came with the Aldi travel hammock — and I found the strap to be versatile for helping us get the right height.

It’s a decent chair. The pillow is a little finicky in that it attaches with Velcro straps, but despite the fact that it sags some when unoccupied, it has the support I need when I sit down in it. My kids, who are older, also liked sitting in it, and they found it comfortable for extended lengths of time.

I did observe that the wood appears unfinished. That helps explain why this chair is not intended to be left outdoors: it’s not treated to be weather resistant. The rope, likewise, does not look artificial and might fray if left out in the elements. It seems like an extra hassle to have to take this thing down and put it back up repeatedly, but it appears to be one of the hazards of ownership. If you are able to hang it under a covered porch or covered deck, that might be preferable as it would protect it some from the elements.

The Verdict:

The Belavi Hanging Hammock Chair is an inexpensive chair that can be made to hang from a porch girder or tree branch. It’s comfortable and works as advertised. It’s not designed to take a lot of weather, though, so you may have to bring it in when not in use if you want it to last. The 1-year warranty is a small but nice extra.

Update (4/16/2026) — We owned this chair for about two to two and a half years, and we kept the chair outside most of the time, including in bad weather. Despite doing what the manual told us not to, it actually held up pretty well for a few years until the wood and ropes started to wear out. If you want it to last, you’ll want to bring it in like the instructions say, but it proved fairly durable — for us, at least — even in the elements.
