Goldhen Pasture Raised Eggs

If you want to buy eggs that aren’t just standard grocery store eggs, Aldi sells several options. They include cage free eggs, free range brown eggs, pasture raised brown eggs, and organic cage free brown eggs.

I recently decided to pick up the pasture raised brown eggs at Aldi. The carton states these are “sustainably raised” and “raised on small family farms.”

Goldhen Pasture Raised Eggs are a Regular Buy. That means you should be able to find them at Aldi all year. They’re stocked in the refrigerator case with all the other eggs.

As with all Aldi products we review, I bought these myself. I paid $4.85 for a dozen in the fall of 2025 at my local Aldi. That comes out to about 40 cents per egg.

The carton says these eggs are packed by Dutch Country Organics in Middlebury, Indiana. The company’s LinkedIn page states it contracts with more than 50 local Amish farm families to produce eggs. Their eggs are also sold at Costco, Albertsons, Target, Walmart, and Kroger.

While Dutch Country Organics’ website states their eggs are USDA Organic, I don’t see that anywhere on the Aldi egg packaging. The eggs are American Humane Certified. The carton states the hens have “100% vegetable feed,” although chickens are omnivores, and if they have access to the outdoors, they likely have access to insects that supplement their vegetarian feed.

What Does it Mean When Eggs are Labeled Pasture Raised?

The term “pasture raised” is not regulated by the USDA, and it’s recommended to look on the carton for certifications from third parties such as Certified Humane or American Humane Certified (the latter certifies the Aldi pastured raised eggs) that the hens are raised humanely. Third party standards for pasture raised eggs typically include:

• Each hen must have 100 square feet or more of pasture.
• The hens spend a large amount of time outdoors where they have access to grass, insects, and seeds.
• The hens spend their nights in barns or mobile coops for protection.

As for how these eggs cook and taste, they’re good. They cook up like any other chicken eggs, and they’re perfect scrambled, fried, hard-boiled, used in baking recipes, or however else you want to use them.

Are these eggs the same as buying eggs from a small local farm? We’ll leave that to readers to decide. However, if you value getting eggs from hens that have more space and access to forage outdoors, these look like a good option at Aldi.
