Open Thread: Barissimo Cold Brew Over Ice Coffee in Classic Black + Caramel Cookie

When summer comes around, hot coffee may not be your thing. You might prefer a caffeinated beverage that helps keep you cool instead. Aldi sells a few options as everyday buys, including mocha or caramel macchiato iced coffee that is stocked in the refrigerated aisle near the coffee creamers and dairy products. Aldi also sells some excellent coffee shop-quality frappe mixes as summer-only Seasonal Items.

Of course, because we’re talking about Aldi here, the grocer also sells some limited-edition iced coffee selections that get stocked one time, and they’re available until they sell out. Most recently, I spotted some cold brew over ice K-Cup style coffee options. These come in two different flavors: Classic Black and Caramel Cookie. The boxes state these are “specially crafted to stand up to ice.”

Barissimo Cold Brew Over Ice Coffee is an Aldi Find, so that means it’s in stores for just a short time. Each store gets a single shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone until if or when Aldi decides to bring it back. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that are not currently in stock at your local store.

These are scheduled to arrive in stores May 29th, 2024.

Barissimo Cold Brew Over Ice Coffee cost $4.29 at the time of publication for a 4.65-ounce box that makes 12 single-serve cups. That comes out to about 36 cents per serving or about 92 cents per ounce.

These are kosher, and the coffee is Rainforest Alliance certified.

The boxes have directions for brewing. The boxes state these coffee cups are compatible with Keurig K-Cup style brewers. Aldi sometimes sells Keurig-style single-serve coffee makers, and you should be able to use these cups in any Aldi machine.

To brew, fill a large tumbler with ice. (Glass cups or tumblers are not recommended when pouring hot coffee directly over ice.) Brew on the 6-ounce size. Use the STRONG or ICE button if available for bigger flavor. Add milk, sweetener, and more ice to taste, if desired, and enjoy. (The directions recommend you check your brewer’s quick start guide for brew sizes and features.) Allow the plastic cup to cool entirely before recycling it.

This is a medium roast that the box describes as “bold, smooth, and invigorating.” It contains just 100% Arabica coffee.

Barissimo Caramel Cookie Cold Brew Over Ice Coffee

This is a medium roast that the box describes as “a blend of rich coffee, decadent caramel, and buttery cookie goodness.” It contains 100% Arabica coffee and natural and artificial flavors.
