Crofton Cooking Torch New at Aldi

Wait long enough, and Aldi is likely to sell whatever it is you’re wanting. Perhaps it’s an air fryer, a sewing machine, or a pole saw. I’ve been shopping at Aldi for years, and just when I think I’ve seen everything from the grocer, they surprise me with something new.
One of the latest items to drop into the middle aisle at Aldi is a cooking torch. This is a small handheld kitchen gadget that looks a lot like a lighter. A kitchen torch or culinary torch is great for melting and caramelizing the sugar atop creme brûlée (which Aldi sells occasionally). It’s also good for roasting peppers, melting cheese on a tuna melt, making s’mores without a campfire, browning a meringue, finishing off a French onion soup, and more.
Let’s take a look at the kitchen torch Aldi is selling.
What We Know:
The Crofton Cooking Torch (Product Code: 713187) is an Aldi Find, so it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back at some later time. Aldi doesn’t offer online ordering for this if it’s sold out at your local store.
This is scheduled to arrive in stores November 20th, 2024.
The Crofton Cooking Torch cost $9.99 at the time of publication. That’s on the lower end of prices for other cooking torches I found online.
Here’s more information, according to Aldi:
- Includes safety lock
- Features a flat base for easy storing
- Built with an ergonomic design for easy use
- Great for use on creme brûlée, melting cheeses, etc.
- Available in black, red, and green
This is sold under the Crofton brand. There is no company called Crofton. It’s simply the name Aldi puts on various kitchen goods it sells, which it sources from various suppliers.
What We Don’t Know:
We haven’t yet tried this cooking torch, so we don’t know how well it works. We write open threads to give our readers a place to talk about Aldi products.

Seems to be OK, just purchased it and flicked it a few times. No current need for it, but it is handier than my firestarting torch.
Just got one too. Unlike the one I got from Amazon last year came with out fuel, Crofton cooking torch is prefilled with butane, ready to use right out of box, sweet. One thing I noticed it has a flame lock switch which you can lock the flame while in use, and it can also locks the trigger when you are not using it. it adds extra safety if you have children around. However, you need to move it to “ON” position to lock. The “ON” means the Flame Lock Switch is on.
I saw a few posts about how to use Crofton Cooking torch, I wanted to share some tips on how it works! The lock on the front is a flame lock that initially needs to be off. Then you push down on the child safety lock on the side, and hold it then pull the trigger to ignite the flame.
If you want to keep the flame locked on while letting go of the trigger, then at this point you can switch the side flame lock on. Hope this helps!
