Serra Long Sleeve T-Shirt

EDITOR’S NOTE: Updated January 2018 with information about how shirts perform after several months of wearing.

I’ve written before about how Aldi’s clothing is hit or miss. Sometimes the fit is great. Other times, it seems like the clothing is not made to fit real people. The Serra Long Sleeve T-Shirt is a winner. I like these shirts so much I went back to my local Aldi to buy another pack of them.

These long-sleeved v-neck t-shirts come in a 2-pack. One shirt is white and the other is kind of a mystery color — it’s like a deep olive green, with some gray and/or brown tones as well. The white shirt is useful for layering under other clothes during the colder months. The green/gray/brown shirt can be layered or is nice enough to wear on its own.

I love the way these shirts fit. They are snug but not overly tight, which makes them perfect for layering under other shirts. I usually wear a small or medium shirt, depending on the brand. These shirts fit me well in a medium. Aldi clothing often seems to run a bit small (that’s probably why a medium fit me so well rather than a small), so it’s a good idea to keep that in mind whenever you purchase their clothes for men or women.

These shirts also are advertised as “long fit for layering,” and they are, indeed, a little on the long side. At 5’6″, I am slightly taller than average and these are plenty long for me in the waist, providing good coverage, and the sleeves also are a good length for me. The shirts are soft, made of a blend of cotton, modal, and a little spandex for the right amount of stretch. They also feature a comfortable tagless label.

I’ve noticed after a few months of wear that the stitching on the cuff of one sleeve is starting to come loose. I still like these shirts, but I’ll be keeping an eye out to see how they hold up as more time passes.

The stitching started to unravel on one of my shirt sleeves after a few months.

The Verdict:

Aldi’s Serra Long Sleeve T-Shirt for women fits great (especially if you are slightly taller than average) and is perfect for layering under other shirts during the cold winter months. Aldi clothing often runs small, so if you are between sizes, go with the larger size. For instance, if you typically wear either a small or medium, go with a medium. The stitching on one of the sleeves started to come unraveled after a few months of wear, so I’ll be watching to see how these shirts perform long term.
