SimplyNature Frozen Fruit & Veggie Bars

Last Updated on May 15, 2018

Aldi offers plenty of frozen sweet treats. Among our favorites are the Special Buy (ALDI Find) organic SimplyNature Fruit & Veggie Bars. These have almost a sorbet-like texture and are a treat on a hot day.

SimplyNature Fruit Veggie Bars

They’reĀ sold for $2.69 per box and come with four 2.75 fluid-ounce bars to a box, and they come in three flavors and advertise no artificial flavors or preservatives. Because they’re an Aldi brand they also contain no artificial colors. They’re also advertised as non-GMO and USDA organic.

Unfortunately, they are a little high in sugar for something that should have a decent amount of natural sweetness from fruit. They also contain the common thickeners and stabilizers called guar gum and xanthan gum. The manufacturer tries to make it sound better by stating the guar gum is organic, but I’m not a big fan of these ingredients.

SimplyNature Strawberry Rhubarb Fruit & Veggie Bars

This is my family’s favorite flavor. These bars have a good strawberry flavor (we didn’t really notice the rhubarb). We bought all three available flavors, and this box was the first to disappear from our freezer.

The ingredients list are: water, organic sugar, organic rhubarb juice, organic strawberry puree, organic strawberry juice concentrate, organic lemon juice concentrate, natural flavor, organic beet juice concentrate (for color), organic guar gum, and xanthan gum.

One bar is 70 calories, with no fat or cholesterol and 14 grams of added sugar.

These bars are a blend of blueberries, pumpkin, and other juices. They’re good, but the Strawberry Rhubarb flavor is my favorite.

Ingredients are: water, organic apple juice concentrate, organic sugar, organic pumpkin juice concentrate, organic lemon juice concentrate, grape juice concentrate (for color), organic blueberry juice concentrate, organic natural flavor, organic beet juice concentrate, organic guar gum, and xanthan gum.

One bar is 70 calories, with no fat or cholesterol and 15 grams of added sugar.

SimplyNature Tangerine Carrot Fruit & Veggie Bars

These bars are a little different because they contain carrot juice. However, these actually weren’t bad. If I didn’t know there was carrot in them, I would have guessed they were simply orange flavored. They were decent. I still like the Strawberry Rhubarb the best, though.

Ingredients are water, organic sugar, organic carrot juice concentrate, organic lemon juice concentrate, organic tangerine juice concentrate, natural flavors, organic guar gum, and xanthan gum.

One bar is 60 calories, with no fat or cholesterol and 15 grams of added sugar.

The Verdict:

Aldi’s SimplyNature Frozen Fruit & Veggie bars are a treat made from real fruit juice. All the flavors are good, but Strawberry Rhubarb is my family’s favorite flavor. All of the flavors do have quite a bit of sugar per serving, and I wish they didn’t contain thickeners and stabilizers like guar gum and xanthan gum. I’d like to see Aldi continue to tweak the recipe for these fruit and veggie bars in the future to make them healthier.

  1. I love these too, and when I went to buy them again, the manager at the store told me they were really popular and what is called a “special buy” item and once they were gone, they wouldn’t be getting them again!! I even asked if they could be ordered, but she said “no, we won’t be getting them”. I couldn’t believe such an obviously popular item would not be carried anymore. It’s pretty much to only reason I went to Aldi.

    • It’s true that they are among what Aldi calls “Special Buy” or “ALDI Find” items. Special Buys are only available for a limited time, but the good news is that they usually come back to Aldi stores eventually, often on a yearly cycle. So keep an eye out next summer.

      • Hi . Iā€™m on keto. What are the carb count of these treats. Iā€™m thinkingā€™s not real low.. Iā€™m allowed 26 g a day.
Are any of the treat bars low carb.

  2. It’s almost September and I still see these at Aldi stores in LA. That said, they’re priced at $3.3 which makes them seem a bit pricey to me.

  3. These SimplyNature Frozen Fruit & Veggie Bars are listed in the current Aldi sales weekly. Thank you so much for listing the ingredients in your review. I would buy these if they didn’t add any additional sweeteners. I was hoping they were just made from frozen pureed fruits and vegetable. I make my own pineapple sorbet without any added sweeteners, and it’s delicious. It would be nice to be able to just buy something similar at Aldi.
