Trader Joe’s Caramel Coffee Almonds
The nut aisle at Trader Joe’s, which is a cousin to Aldi, is a wondrous place. TJ’s stocks traditional peanuts, cashews, and other favorites. The grocer also sells several more unique flavored selections, including Thai Lime & Chili Cashews and Crunchy Chili Onion Peanuts.
The Trader Joe’s nut aisle also includes some caramel coffee almonds. These feature whole almonds covered in a crispy caramel coating that contains real coffee powder, bringing together the health benefits of almonds plus the cozy, caffeinated vibes of a coffee shop.
I love sweetened coffee, coffee-based drinks, and coffee-flavored foods. Coffee ice cream? Sure. Caramel macchiato iced coffee? Also a yes.
So, these almonds looked like something I’d enjoy. I decided to buy the Trader Joe’s Caramel Coffee Almonds and review them.
I paid $4.99 for an 8-ounce bag of Trader Joe’s Caramel Coffee Almonds at the time of writing. That’s about 62 cents per ounce. One bag has seven 1/4-cup servings, which comes out to about 71 cents per serving.
Ingredients are almonds, sugar, butter (cream [milk]), coffee powder, salt, and natural flavors.
If you’re looking out for allergens, these contain milk and almond. They may contain sesame, Brazil nut, cashew, coconut, hazelnut, macadamia nut, pecan, pine nut, pistachio, and walnut.
The almonds are a product of the U.S. The bag states the product was processed and packaged in Thailand.
The package recommends storing these in a cool, dry place.
One 1/4-cup serving has 200 calories, 14 grams of total fat (18% DV), 1.5 grams of saturated fat (8% DV), 40 mg of sodium (2% DV), 11 grams of total carbohydrates (4% DV), 2 grams of dietary fiber (7% DV), 8 grams of total sugars, 7 grams of added sugars (14% DV), and 7 grams of protein.
These have become a new favorite I always drop in my shopping cart when I go to Trader Joe’s. They’re sweet, with a lightly crunchy coating that is satisfying. I appreciate how they can satiate my sweet tooth with less sugar than a traditional dessert. They have a definite coffee flavor, but it’s not overly strong. In fact, my middle schooler who wants nothing to do with coffee loves these almonds. So these may even appeal to people who aren’t particularly fond of coffee.
The Verdict:
Trader Joe’s Caramel Coffee Almonds feature whole almonds with a coating of crispy caramel and coffee powder. We bought these to review, and they’re crunchy, filling, and have just the right amount of coffee flavor balanced with sweetness. Even our family members who don’t like coffee like these, and a bag doesn’t last long in our house.
