Trader Joe’s Nourish Spa Shampoo and Conditioner

I have some friends who love Trader Joe’s beauty products, from facial cleansers to 3-in-1 hair and body wash. I’m often on the lookout for different personal care products to try when I shop at Trader Joe’s, which is a cousin to Aldi. I’m a fan of some of TJ’s facial moisturizers and their eye cream. I’m less impressed with their shampoo bar.

After hearing some positive comments about Trader Joe’s Nourish Spa Shampoo and Nourish Spa Conditioner, especially from people who have fine, straight hair like mine, I picked up a bottle of each to try.

Trader Joe’s Nourish Spa Shampoo and Conditioner cost $2.99 each at the time of publication. Both the shampoo and the conditioner are sold in 16.9-ounce bottles.

Here’s more information about the shampoo and conditioner:

  • Offers balanced moisturizing
  • Safe for color treated hair
  • Contains argan oil to smooth and shine
  • Enriched with botanicals
  • No animal testing or animal products

The shampoo bottle states:

When your hair is dry, it needs to be nourished. This balanced shampoo will clean and protect. While adding moisture and manageability, it infuses shine everyday, all day. Enhanced with botanicals, it does not contain laurel / laureth sulfates.

The conditioner bottle states something similar:

When your hair is dry, it needs to be nourished. This balanced hair remoisturizer is ideal for replenishing dry, brittle hair. Perfect for use daily, it infuses moisture and exceptional shine, without weighing hair down. Enhanced with botanicals, it does not contain laurel / laureth sulfates.

Glancing at the ingredients list, some of the botanicals in these include rosemary, orange, mango, ginkgo bilboa, lemongrass, echinacea, willow, kelp, chamomile, lavender, grapefruit, and soybean extracts, all of which are organic.

You use this shampoo and conditioner like you would any other brand. Massage the shampoo into wet hair, creating a thick, rich, moisturizing lather. Rinse thoroughly and follow with the conditioner, massing its “wealth of moisture into drenched hair.” Rinse thoroughly, and then style your hair as usual.

The shampoo has a nice scent, with notes of grapefruit along with other mixed botanical notes. The conditioner has more floral notes. Both smell good.

I also liked how both of these products worked in my fine, straight hair. The shampoo got my hair clean, and the conditioner added some nice softness. I felt like these products didn’t weigh my hair down either, which is important when you have fine hair. I’d definitely buy these again.

The Verdict:

Trader Joe’s Nourish Spa Shampoo and Conditioner offer “balanced moisturizing” and contain argan oil and various botanicals. They’re also safe for color treated hair and were not tested on animals. They smell good, and they worked well on my fine, straight hair, getting my hair clean but not weighing it down. This is a good pair to keep in the shower.
