Ever Wished You Could Get Aldi Duct Tape? Now You Can!

This post is an open thread and contains affiliate links.

The running joke with Aldi is that nothing is off limits when it comes to the middle aisle. Want a ping pong table? Sure. Looking for a 7-Up cake? You got it. Hoping to get a chainsaw? Yes.

Aldi will pretty much sell anything. Anything.

(Except dental floss. Aldi will apparently never sell that.)

At this point, Aldi can shock us, but rarely surprise us. Whatever we have on our Aldi bingo card, the grocer is going to sell.

So why not tape? And not just any tape — why not the tape that is synonymous with the DIY repair job?

It was once known as duck tape, and back in the 1970s a company even managed to trademark Duck Tape. For the rest of us, it’s duct tape, and you can find it at your local hardware store.

And, apparently at your local grocer.

What We Know:

WORKZONE Adhesive Tape (Product Code: 838397) — or what Aldi probably should have called WORKZONE Duct Tape — is an Aldi Find. You can only find this in stores for a limited time. Aldi doesn’t ship online, so once it’s sold out, it’s all gone until Aldi brings it back, whenever that might be.

And it could be awhile. As best as we can tell, Aldi last sold this kind of tape in 2019, so if you really want this stuff and don’t want to wait five years for it to reappear, this is probably your time.

At the time of this piece, the Aldi tape costs $3.49. That’s on the low end of prices for duct tape that I can find online.

Aldi has listed just two bits of information about this tape:

  • Polyethylen coated cloth tape with synthetic rubber adhesive
  • Available in 2 colors: Silver or Black

That’s it.

What We Don’t Know:

For that reason, we don’t know much about this roll of tape. We don’t know who makes it. We don’t know how easy it is to apply. We don’t know how well it holds. For all those reasons, we’ve created this open thread so users can share their experiences.

Have you ever put Aldi duct tape to use? Tell us all about it in the comments!
