Tanimura & Antle Artisan Lettuce
Salad is the most popular vegetable in my house. I serve salad alongside most meals, and we eat it much more often than other veggie sides like steamed or roasted veggies. It’s easy to make, and people like being able to customize their toppings and dressing.
Aldi sells plenty of options when it comes to lettuce, the base of any salad. There are heads of iceberg, or bags or romaine. There are also precut and prewashed lettuce and leafy green mixes in various bags and plastic clamshell containers.
My favorite lettuce from Aldi is the artisan lettuce that’s sold in a square-ish plastic clamshell in the refrigerated aisle among the other produce. It contains four small heads of artisan lettuce, usually with a colorful mix of green and purple/red lettuces. The package states it’s great for salads, sandwiches, and wraps.
Tanimura & Antle Artisan Lettuce is a Regular Buy. That means you should be able to find it at Aldi all year.
We buy Aldi products with our own money to review. I paid $2.99 for a package of four small heads of lettuce at my local store in January of 2025.
This is a product of the U.S. The bottom of the package states:
Each package contains four Tanimura & Antle Artisan lettuce heads carefully selected from our six varieties: red gem, green gem, red oak leaf, green oak leaf, red tango, and green tango.
Tanimura & Antle is not an Aldi brand, and you may find its products in other grocers. It’s an “employee-owned family farm” that grows produce in California and Arizona, and they also grow some lettuce in greenhouses in Tennessee. The artisan lettuce package states it’s “fresh from” California and Arizona.

The lettuce should be washed before serving. It’s easy to cut or tear the lettuce into bite-sized pieces (I compost the stem ends), rinse and dry it in a salad spinner, and pour into a serving bowl. It’s a good amount of salad once it’s prepared. We use this lettuce for garden salads, taco salad, sandwich or burger toppings, and more. It’s versatile and tastes good no matter how you serve it.
The Verdict:
Tanimura & Antle Artisan Lettuce regularly makes it into our shopping cart at Aldi. It features four small heads of artisan lettuce in various colors, and it’s good for salads, sandwiches, wraps, or whatever else you want to serve it with. This brand isn’t exclusive to Aldi, so you might see the Tanimura & Antle name at other grocery stores. It’s a product we’re glad to see Aldi carry.
