EDITOR’S NOTE: We bought and reviewed these scissors in July of 2025. Aldi is selling them again the week of November 26th, 2025, for $3.99.

Long ago, I subscribed to a print news magazine that, in each issue, had a small section entitled “Boring But Important.” I found this clever, to the point where I will occasionally use the phrase with my family. Certain things like tax code or having toilet paper on hand may not be the most exciting things to most people, but they are necessary.

Aldi sells some really entertaining stuff, especially in its middle aisle. New and trendy cooking appliances. Dupes of popular accessories. Advent calendars. You know, the stuff people dash to the store to get.

Aldi also sells things that are — you guessed it — well, boring but important. The mundane things that no one camps out at opening to get, but the things that you might see in the aisles and say, yeah, I could use that.

We’re pretty confident that scissors, in most cases, fall under the boring but important category. Aldi will sell them, too.

Pembrook Scissors Set

The Pembrook 4-Piece Scissors Set is an Aldi Find. Each store gets a shipment, and once they’re sold out, you can’t get them again until they come back, whenever that might be. If you don’t see them in stores, you’re out of luck, as Aldi doesn’t ship them in the mail.

In recent years Aldi has sold these scissors twice a year, in July and November. If you’re wanting to get them, those appear to be the best times to keep a look out.

We paid $4.99 for the set in July of 2025. That’s up from the $3.99 they sold for in November of 2024 and from the $2.99 they went for in July of 2024. As of November of 2025, they are $3.99. That price is still lower than any 4-piece set I can find on Amazon.

According to the packaging, the scissors have stainless steel blades and plastic soft touch handles. There’s no indication who made them other than that they’re made in China.

The set incudes fabric scissors, household scissors, craft scissors, and sewing scissors. To be honest, we’re not 100% sure which scissors are meant to be which. They’re not labeled in any way. If you have insights, let us know in the comments.

They also claim to be suitable for both right- and left-handed people: important for me because I’m left-handed. I’ve had very mixed luck with scissors over the years, and to be honest in professional settings — I work in education — I use high-grade titanium scissors that I’ve found to be best for me in cutting things.

Oh, and these scissors are sharp, so the package warns to keep them away from children.

In a cruel — if maybe necessary — irony, I needed scissors to cut these scissors out of the packaging. In a related irony, I used an old pair of Pembrook scissors we’d gotten from Aldi years ago to cut these scissors out.

There are indeed four scissors, and of various sizes. They are:

  • Straight scissors, 5 inches
  • Straight scissors, 5 1/2 inches
  • Curved scissors, 8 1/2 inches
  • Curved scissors, 9 3/4 inches

We’ve used these scissors sets over the years — we have a couple of sets in our house at this point — and have found them competent. Our family uses them for everything from art projects to … well, cutting things out of packaging. They get taken around the house for a lot of uses, so we decided having a second set was a good idea. Both the old and new set do the job cutting things, including for me, a lefty.

The Verdict:

The Pembrook 4-Piece Scissors Set is a solid, inexpensive everyday set for keeping around the house. The four sizes and different shapes means you have options to fit what you need. Worth picking up if you need scissors.

Just be sure to have a pair of scissors on hand to get them out of the packaging.
