KIRKTON HOUSE LED Neon Wall Sign
As we near the end of summer, August becomes the unofficial back-to-school month. And Aldi is always on top of it with planners, backpacks, and other miscellaneous school supplies.
Aldi also does dorm room decor, and this week is full of it. More specifically, the grocer is selling a bunch of light-up pieces to add some cheer to your space. The selection includes neon signs like the one pictured below. I’m just going to use it in my room at home, as I suspect many people will.
The Kirkton House LED Neon Wall Sign is $9.99 and is an Aldi Find, meaning it’s only in stores for a limited time. Each store gets one shipment, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. You can’t order these online from Aldi.
There are six designs to choose from: a bow, mushroom, cowgirl boot, cherries, a smiley face, and one that reads “Howdy.” I chose the cherries.
When comparing the price to other sellers, Aldi is definitely on the cheaper end. On Amazon, most neon signs start at $20. We did manage to track down one Amazon seller offering neon cherry signs for $10, so if you do miss out on the Aldi ones, or if you want a sign with more customer ratings, you have options.

One cool thing about the packaging is a try me button at the top right hand corner of the box, so you can see what the sign looks like lit up. It’s operated by a simple button battery, and you have to disconnect the sign’s USB cord from the cord connected to the battery when you open it.
The sign measures 11.81 inches wide by 12.99 inches high.
The packaging lists some features:
- On/off clicker switch
- Two holes for easy hanging
- USB power source
- Wall mount accessories included
The mounting accessories include two Phillips head screws and two wall anchors.
The cord, as mentioned on the box, is a USB cord, and it can be hooked up to any USB power adapter, including battery packs, computers, or wall socket adapters. Once plugged in, there’s a switch attached to the cord to turn the light on and off. We plugged the sign into our computer to test it, and we noticed it was visibly brighter connected to the computer than to the try me button, so brightness depends on your power source.
Note: After opening the light, we noticed a crack in the plastic near the top. It’s inside the plastic, and no one will notice it, but make sure to check your sign before buying it. Also, know that you can return it if you have to.

We thought that small crack would be the only issue, but there was more to come. There’s a hole in the middle of the sign where you’d put a nail to hang it, but when the sign is in its packaging, there’s a white plastic cylinder in that spot. We couldn’t figure out how to get it out for a while, which means we couldn’t hang it. The white piece doesn’t unscrew or simply pop out.

We found a message thread with fellow Aldi shoppers with the same dilemma. Ultimately, we had to use toenail clippers to slowly chip away at it enough that it came out. At that point, we’d made a couple of other small scratches on the sign.

The sign came with screws, but we opted for simply mounting it with a nail. It’s not the most secure, but it gets the job done, and the scratches in the plastic don’t show much when it’s flush against the wall.

Lit up, it looks really cool. It is way brighter hooked up to an actual outlet through the USB adapter, and it adds a lot of charm to the room.

The Verdict:
The Kirkton House LED Neon Wall Sign is $9.99 and an Aldi Find. Even though it’s a very trendy item and it looks great set up, the risk of damage during unboxing leaves us skeptical as to whether it’s worth it or not. If you want to take a chance on it, that’s fine, but you might have a better experience just paying a little more for a higher-quality light with less hassle.
