EDITOR’S NOTE: This kit was available under the Baker’s Corner Aldi-exclusive brand name in June of 2021 and 2020.
As the summer winds down and we anticipate saying “goodbye for now” to favorite activities like long days at the pool, there is one summer tradition that has staying power as the seasons transition. S’mores are the perfect dessert for summer camping trips, and yet they’re also a great fall comfort food. Who doesn’t like cozying up around the fire to toast marshmallows as the evenings begin to turn cooler? As we enter this time between seasons, Aldi is upping its s’mores game by selling a S’mores Jumbo Cookie Kit.
The In the Mix S’mores Jumbo Cookie Kit arrives in stores the week of August 18th, 2019. It comes in a 16-oz. package and makes one large cookie. Aldi is selling it for $4.99 at the time of publication. It’s an ALDI Find (Special Buy), which means it will be in stores for a short time only.
The kit come with a graham cracker cookie mix, chocolate chunks, mini marshmallows, and a nonstick jumbo cookie pan.
The kit is not an Aldi exclusive. It’s produced by Brand Castle, which sells products at many retailers across the U.S. and around the world. They specialize in baking mixes and kits as well as party decor. Their website states their In the Mix product line features step-by-step instructions to create various baked goods. Other In the Mix products include Red Velvet Pancake Mix and Key Lime Pie Cookie Mix.
The In the Mix S’mores Jumbo Cookie Kit also has a listing on Amazon, although Amazon stated it was unavailable for purchase at the time of publication.
Amazon lists ingredients as:
“COOKIE MIX: ENRICHED WHEAT FLOUR (WHEAT FLOUR, MALTED BARLEY FLOUR, NIACIN, REDUCED IRON, THIAMINE MONONITRATE, RIBOFLAVIN, FOLIC ACID), SUGAR, BROWN SUGAR, GRAHAM CRUMBS [ENRICHED FLOUR (WHEAT FLOUR, NIACIN, REDUCED IRON, THIAMINE MONONITRATE, RIBOFLAVIN, FOLIC ACID), HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR, VEGETABLE OIL (SOYBEAN, PALM AND PALM KERNEL OIL), CONTAINS 2% OR LESS OF BAKING SODA, SALT, HONEY], DRIED WHOLE EGG, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, SALT, BAKING SODA. We haven’t tried the s’mores kit yet, so we can’t speak to whether it’s any good. Once it hits Aldi stores, though, it will probably find its way into our cart for some important taste testing. With graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate, how can it go wrong?
