Bake House Creations Strawberry Cake Pops

Starbucks is a favorite of mine, and almost every time I go, I get a drink and a cake pop (the birthday cake ones have a strong hold on me). But each cake pop is $3 or $4, and it’s not sustainable to buy them all the time, no matter how good they are. I noticed Aldi sells cake pops, so I picked them up to see how store-bought cake pops compare to pricier ones at places like Starbucks.

The Bake House Creations Strawberry Cake Pops are $4.99 for a 5.4-ounce 4-pack. That’s about 92 cents per ounce, or about $1.25 per cake pop.

We could be wrong, but these appear to be Regular Buys, meaning we think they’re in stores year round. In addition to strawberry, they’re also available in orange and cookies and cream. (Aldi sometimes rotates additional flavors in for holidays or different seasons, for a limited time.)

This price is very reasonable for what you get. Cake pops are more labor intensive to make than other desserts, so it’s common to pay around $5 per pop. The question is how the quality of these cheaper cake pops compare to more expensive ones.

Our Thoughts:

All in all, for store-bought cake pops, these were really good. I’m mostly going off what I know of Starbucks cake pops, since those are relatively well known. The Aldi cake pops have a thicker outer shell, giving them a nice crunch, and the cake on the inside is moist, more so than Starbucks at times. The flavor isn’t anything special. It’s what you’d get from a strawberry cake, but it’s flavorful and rich, if not a little too rich.

These aren’t the best cake pops in the world, but if you’re looking for a way to buy cake pops for a party or event, these are a great, more affordable way to do it. And if you’re anything like me, this is a way to get your cake pop fill without dropping a lot of money.

The Verdict:

The Bake House Creations Strawberry Cake Pops are $4.99 at Aldi. My family and I thought they were pretty good, and they hold their own as store-bought cake pops. If you’re looking for affordable fun desserts, these are perfect.
