Aldi is Selling a Huntington Home Children’s Cooling Weighted Blanket

Weighted blankets have increased in popularity over the past few years, and Aldi — always one to be aware of trends — sometimes sells weighted blankets.
What are weighted blankets, exactly? They’re just what their name indicates: a blanket that is usually divided into compartments that are filled with pellets or beads to add weight. These types of blankets are sometimes used to help people with autism, anxiety, insomnia, or other conditions. The blanket’s weight can mimic the sensation of a hug, which may help to bring about a sense of calm.
While more research is needed, several small studies have indicated weighted blankets may help relive pain, anxiety, and insomnia. Weighted blankets are generally safe as long the person using them does not have obstructive sleep apnea, asthma, or claustrophobia. It’s also not recommended to use weighted blankets for children younger than 2 because of the increased risk of suffocation.
With that said, Aldi is again selling a weighted blanket. This time, it also has cooling features. The blanket is sold in 5-pound or 8-pound designs. Weighted blankets should be 5% to 10% of the overall body weight, making these blankets ideal for children.
What We Know:
The Huntington Home Children’s Cooling Weighted Blanket (Product Code: 701222) cost $24.99 at the time of publication. That’s on the lower end of prices for cooling weighted blankets on Amazon.
This is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone unless Aldi decides to bring them back at some point. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that aren’t in stock at your local store.
If you miss out on purchasing a weighted blanket this time, Aldi does occasionally sell blankets like this. The grocer stocked a non-cooling weighted blanket for $29.99 in March of 2022, and they sold another children’s cooling weighted blanket for $24.99 in September of 2021.
Here’s more information on the blanket Aldi sold in September of 2022:
- Choose Gray or Salmon in 5 lb. or Gray or Navy in 8 lb.
- Relieves stress and anxiety
- Promotes better sleep
- Includes a removable, machine washable cover
- OEKO-TEX certified
What We Don’t Know:
We haven’t tried this cooling weighted blanket, so we don’t know how comfortable it is, how well it works, or how durable it is. We write open threads so readers can talk about their experiences with Aldi products.
