Sometime in the spring of 2020, Aldi amended its return policy in response to the global pandemic. Gone was the Twice as Nice Guarantee, where you could get both a replaced product and a refund on Aldi house-brand food items. Also gone was the standard return policy, where you could return and get a refund on Aldi Finds and most other Aldi items not covered by the Twice as Nice Guarantee.

Instead, Aldi rolled out a “temporary updated return policy” that was more limited. It allowed refunds on house brand items and Aldi Finds, but not on all products. In addition, no returns were accepted.

Aldi has now dropped the temporary return policy. Today, in response to a customer asking about returns, Aldi US tweeted: “That changed as of last week, and you are welcome to make the return at your convenience. Thank you!”

I took a look over at the Aldi US website and, sure enough, the old return policy is back in place, including the Twice as Nice Guarantee. I can’t find even an archived page of the temporary return policy. Aldi appears to have made this change quietly, with no announcements that I can find.

With things being as they are, there’s always a chance the temporary policy could come back. But for now, Aldi has brought things back to the way they used to be.
