Benner Tea Co. Tea Party Herbal Tea Collection

Sometimes I find tea at Aldi that I really like. The discount grocer sold some prebiotic gut health teas earlier this year that were great. I also think Aldi sells a solid black tea in an inexpensive bulk box. Then there are other times when tea from Aldi disappoints, such as when Aldi sold a tea Advent calendar.

So, I had uncertain expectations when I picked up a spring-themed herbal tea collection at Aldi this week. To be honest, I had enough doubts that I almost didn’t buy it.

The packaging is certainly appealing. This tea collection is packaged in a pretty box with illustrated animals dressed in old-fashioned clothing. It’s reminiscent of Beatrix Potter’s stories, like Peter Rabbit.

The box looks adorable, but is the tea any good?

The Benner Tea Co. Tea Party Herbal Tea Collection is an Aldi Find. That means it’s in stores for just a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back next year. You can’t order this online from Aldi if it’s out of stock at your local store.

We buy Aldi products for review with our own funds. I paid $4.99 for a box of 24 tea bags at my local store in April of 2025. That’s around 21 cents per tea bag. The box has a net weight of 43.2 ounces, with each tea bag weighing 1.52 ounces.

All of the tea in this collection is herbal and is caffeine free. The box states this collection features “a blend of ceylon & other origin herbal tea packed in Sri Lanka.”

The back of the box is as cute as the front. The back features a tea party invitation with illustrated animals.

Tea Flavors and Our Thoughts:

There are four tea bags in each flavor, for a total of 24 tea bags in the box. The tea flavors and ingredients — along with my thoughts about each flavor — are as follows:

• Berry Crumble — orange peel, apple, rosehip, hibiscus, blueberry flavor. The blueberry flavor is there. This is a decent herbal tea.
• Lemon Macaron — chamomile, rosehip, lemongrass, lemon flavor, mango flavor. I don’t care for this flavor. It smells similar to a bottle of Pledge cleaner, and it just doesn’t taste great.
• Raspberry Cookie — hibiscus, apple, rosehip, raspberry flavor, strawberry flavor. The berry flavors really come through in this, and so far it’s my favorite of the flavors in this collection. It’s a good fruity herbal tea.
• Blueberry Muffin — licorice, rosehip, blue pea, chamomile, fennel, blueberry flavor, vanilla flavor. This tea has a striking blue hue, probably because it contains blue pea. It’s also got a bit of sweetness due to the licorice, and it’s pretty good overall.
• Banana Bread — licorice, rosehip, apple, banana flavor, maple flavor. I can definitely taste the licorice in this. It gives it a sweet flavor. If you try, you can imagine this tea tastes vaguely like banana bread. It has a bread-like scent that smells a bit fake and odd, but it’s not bad.
• Strawberry Shortcake — hibiscus, apple, rosehip, strawberry flavor, caramel flavor. This has a nice strawberry flavor. It also has a similar scent to the banana bread-flavored tea, like it’s trying to evoke cake or a sweet bread, but it’s obviously not the real thing. Again, it’s not bad.

Brewing Instructions:

These are easy enough to brew. The box says to use one tea bag per serving cup. Put a tea bag in the cup, pour in boiling water, and stir. Allow the tea to infuse for 3-5 minutes before removing the tea bag.

The Verdict:

The Benner Tea Co. Tea Party Herbal Tea Collection has packaging that certainly gets your attention. The woodland animals dressed in old-fashioned clothing look like characters right out of a Beatrix Potter storybook.

This box contains 24 tea bags — 4 bags each of berry crumble, lemon macaron, raspberry cookie, blueberry muffin, banana bread, and strawberry shortcake flavored teas. The teas contain whole ingredients such as hibiscus, citrus peel, and rosehips. They also all contain natural flavors such as “blueberry flavor” and “strawberry flavor.”

After being disappointed by the Aldi tea Advent calendar last holiday season, we weren’t sure if this spring tea party collection would be any good. While it’s not gourmet tea by any means, it exceeded our expectations. We like all of the flavors except the lemon macaron. If you’re an herbal tea drinker, or if you just like the cute packaging, this is a nice boxed set.
