Bluey Story Starter Packs at Aldi

Aldi has sold several Bluey items, especially in more recent years. They include Bluey water bottles, plastic Bluey plates and children’s utensils, small figure playsets, an Advent calendar, and even a small house playset.

This week, Aldi is selling small Bluey figure sets that are 2.5 to 3 inches tall. Sets included Jack and an army hat, Janet and Rita (Grannies Bluey and Bingo), Muffin with a chef’s hat, Bingo with ice cream, Bingo and a toilet, and others. Each set also comes with a mini postcard of a location in the show.

I already owned Janet, but I was missing Rita, so I got her. She comes with a grabber tool and a mini postcard showing Bluey and Bingo’s bedroom. I also bought Muffin with a chef’s hat, because the collection really isn’t complete without Muffin. Muffin came with a mini postcard showing a picture of Bluey’s street and house (the picture featured at the beginning of most Bluey episodes).

These cost $3.99 each, which is much cheaper than most, if any, other places where you can find them. I found the same kinds of Bluey story starter packs starting at around $10 and going up to $20 on Amazon. You might find them starting at $5 at Walmart. That’s a good reason to get them from Aldi.

These are Aldi Finds, so they’re only in stores for a limited time. Aldi gets one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone unless Aldi decides to sell them again at some later time. If these are not in stock at your local store, you can’t order them online from Aldi.

These are made by Moose Toys, a toy brand that often appears on Aldi shelves.

Unboxing Muffin:

The first thing I noticed when I took Muffin out of the package were that, one, her legs were a little loose. This wasn’t a big surprise, as I’ve noticed that almost every figure has a loose arm, tail, or loose legs. It doesn’t affect how sturdy they are; it’s just a minor flaw.

The second thing I noticed was that when I tried to put Muffin’s hat on her head, it was a little hard. It fits on, but it’s super tight and you have to get it over her eyebrows. Even then, it doesn’t stay on great. It might just need to be stretched out a little, but if you have a young kid looking to play with it, it might be hard to use the hat.

Also, the hat seems like a sort of odd accessory, because it’s only featured in The Wise Old Wolfhound episode briefly. A more memorable and unique item would be something like her cone or, say, a Moonlight Unicorn. However, the hat can fit with other characters, too, so if you want Bluey to wear it, it fits.

Unboxing Bingo:

When I took Bingo out, she was fine. The blanket fits well (and it’s removable) and none of her limbs were loose. There was, however, a small bit of red paint from her head streaked on her eye. It’s not too noticeable, but it’s not exactly hidden, either.

The only real complaint with Bingo is her purple claw grabber. From the shape of it, it looks like she should be able to hold onto it fairly well. When I tried to put it in her hand, though, it really doesn’t fit. It can go in enough to stay in place if Rita’s going to be put on a shelf or used as a part of a collection, but if it’s being played with, it’s not going to stay in place.

Also, it can’t be held with the blanket fastened together, or even on all the way. It has to be unfastened and pushed aside a little. I think the best option for getting it to stay is to just slide it into the blanket, so it looks like it’s being held, even if it’s not. Surprisingly, tucking it into the blanket actually keeps it in place pretty well, better than if it’s being held. Still, it’s a fun one to put with Janet to have the pair.

The Verdict:

Considering the price you pay for these Bluey playsets, I’d say that these are definitely worth it if you want to spend a little less money on a small set. There is a minor flaw in Muffin’s chef’s hat (it’s a tight fit), and Rita can’t hold her grabber tool well. Those things might be more of a problem if you’ve got young kids playing with these. Otherwise, though, these are quality sets, especially considering their low price.
