Burman’s Korma Curry Sauce

When I need to make dinner but don’t have the time or energy to cook from scratch, I like to use some of the jarred simmer sauces from Aldi. Specifically, Aldi sells some Indian-inspired sauces, including tikka masala, butter chicken, and korma.

The korma sauce, with its sweet coconut notes, is different from the other more savory simmer sauces. It’s one that I pick up from time to time.

Burman’s Korma Curry Sauce is a Regular Buy. That means you should be able to find it at Aldi all year.

I paid $3.69 for a 15-ounce jar in 2026. That’s around 25 cents per ounce. We buy Aldi products for review using our own money.

This is a product of the United Kingdom.

If you’re looking out for allergens, this contains milk and tree nuts (coconut). It may contain peanuts and other tree nuts.

The full ingredients list is as follows: water, cream (milk), sugar, desiccated coconut, creamed coconut, modified food starch, and 2% or less of tomato paste, canola oil, ginger puree, ground spices, dried onion, garlic puree, salt, whey protein concentrate (milk), lactic acid, lemon juice concentrate, and dried cilantro leaf.

There are about six 1/4-cup servings per jar. One serving has 90 calories, 6 grams of total fat (8% DV), 3.5 grams of saturated fat (18% DV), 180 mg of sodium (8% DV), 8 grams of total carbohydrates (3% DV), less than 1 gram of dietary fiber (4% DV), 5 grams of total sugars, 4 grams of added sugars (8% DV), and less than 1 gram of protein.

Preparing and Serving the Korma Curry Sauce:

The jar recommends heating this with chicken in a pan on the stove. Heat oil in a sauté pan. Season chicken with salt and pepper and brown evenly in the hot oil. Add onions and other vegetables and the entire jar of simmer sauce. Cover the pan and simmer over low heat for 10-12 minutes until the chicken is cooked through. Enjoy with rice.

Alternatively, you can pour this over a roast and bake it, or put it in a slow cooker with protein and vegetables of your choice.

Shake the jar well before using it. If you have any leftover sauce, promptly refrigerate it, and use it all within three days of opening.

My favorite way to serve this is by heating it in a skillet with cooked, diced, seasoned chicken breasts. You could also serve this with chickpeas instead of chicken. Serve some basmati rice and naan on the side. I also like to stock up on mini samosas when Aldi sells them. They make a perfect accompaniment to this meal.

The jar label describes this as mild, and that’s accurate. This is not spicy at all, so if traditional Indian food is too intense for you, this is a good option. If you have a craving for something sweet and savory, this also fits the bill.

The Verdict:

Burman’s Korma Curry Sauce is a creamy sauce with coconut and mild spices. It’s not spicy. It’s perfect for times when you want an easy Indian-style meal.
