CASALUX Paper Rope Pendant Lamp Headed to Aldi

The one thing you can say about trends is this: you never quite know where they will go next. I can think of plenty of examples — in clothing, in technology, in home décor — where I thought “that will never take off,” only to see it take off. I’m not alone in my ability to swing and miss, the proof being in companies that pass on things that they are sure won’t be a hit.

For that reason, I try to keep an open mind when I see something and am like, “Is that really going to be a thing?” A good example? When my local German grocer decides to sell a hanging paper lamp.

What We Know:

Casalux Paper Rope Lamp

The CASALUX Paper Rope Pendant Lamp (Product Code: 709548) is an Aldi Find. That means it’s only in stores for a short time, and once it’s sold out, it won’t be back until Aldi sells it again, which may or may not happen. Aldi doesn’t ship products online, so if you can’t find this in your local store, you’re out of luck.

At the time of this post, the lamp retailed for $29.99. Prices for these kinds of rope lamps are all over the place online, ranging from the low $20s to $130 or higher. Suffice to say that this lamp is on the lower end of the price scale.

CASALUX is not a separate company. Instead, it is a relatively new Aldi private label. The grocer filed the trademark paperwork for CASALUX in 2022, with the filing indicating it applies to things like light fixtures and festive decorations. This is the second CASALUX-branded item we’ve seen in stores, the first being a desk organizer lamp from June 2023. We don’t know who the manufacturer is behind this lamp.

According to Aldi, features of the lamp include

  • 8.7″ diameter x 10.8″ height
  • 2-in-1: convertible hardwire or plug-in
  • adjustable cord length up to 15′
  • indoor use only
  • perfect for kitchens, dining rooms, bedrooms, entryways or stairways
  • includes one 9W LED bulb

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t tried out this lamp, so we don’t know how easily it installs, how well it functions, or how durable it is. We’ve created this open thread to let users share experiences.

Have you picked up this lamp? Let us know about it in the comments.
