Granola bars are a common snack staple in my house, along with cheese cubes, string cheese, cheese blocks, peanuts, and trail mix. They’re easy to grab on the go for a picnic or a school or work lunch, or any time we want to tame a growling stomach.
Not all granola bars are actually good for you, though. In fact, many can be loaded with added sugars. I generally don’t buy ones that are too sugary or doused in chocolate. But sometimes we indulge a little. Aldi sells some chewy dipped granola bars that are almost as good as some candy bars, in my opinion. When I buy these bars, I treat them like a dessert, and they make for a nice occasional treat.
Millville Chewy Dipped Granola Bars cost $1.85 for a 1.05-1.09-ounce box at the time of publication. Each box contains six bars, which comes out to about 26 cents per granola bar.
These are sold in either chocolate chip or peanut butter varieties. They feature a chewy granola bar with chocolate chips or a layer of peanut butter all coated in a chocolatey covering. They’re soft, sweet, chewy, and rich. My family likes both flavors, but we might be more partial to the peanut butter flavor with its smooth layer of peanut butter atop the granola bar and inside the chocolatey coating.
These are Regular Buys, so you should be able to find them year round at Aldi.
These are not great for you, with added sugar and some saturated fat. They also contain their share of processed ingredients such as soy lecithin, natural flavor, corn syrup, and dextrose.

The Verdict:
Millville Chewy Dipped Granola Bars feature a chewy granola bar with either chocolate chips or a layer of peanut butter, covered on all sides with a rich chocolatey coating. They’re on the softer side and are indulgent. They taste more like a candy bar than a granola bar, so if you’re in the mood for a dessert or treat, these might fit the bill.
Candy disguised as health food.
Perhaps some people view it that way, but I never called it a health food here.
When you see the picture on the package, there is no way that these can be mistaken for a healthy food. Having said that, I do buy the peanut butter bars once in a while. I like to pop the entire box in the freezer and eat them as a frozen treat.
That sounds like a great way to enjoy these. Thanks for the tip!
