Ferrex 20V Cordless Pole Saw Returning to Aldi

EDITOR’S NOTE: Updated for 2025.

I’ve got a few trees in my yard that benefit from regular trimming. I call in a professional to take care of that task every few years, but sometimes Aldi sells a cordless pole saw that catches my eye.

Pole saws are good for trimming smaller tree branches or shrubs that are up high or otherwise out of reach. They can be a safer option than a chainsaw because they might help you avoid climbing on a ladder or getting up in the tree itself.

Aldi tends to sell this cordless pole saw in the fall when people are looking to do yard cleanup during the last few months of milder weather. Here’s a closer look at the pole saw.

What We Know:

Ferrex Cordless Pole Saw

The Ferrex Cordless Pole Saw is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store receives one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back at some later point. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products not currently in stock at your local store.

This pole saw is scheduled to arrive in Aldi stores on October 8th, 2025.

The pole saw cost $59.99 in October of 2025. That’s up $10 from $49.99 in October of 2024 and in 2023. That price is still a lot less than what other cordless pole saws go for on Amazon.

Aldi has not yet shared details about the 2025 model, but here’s what we knew about the 2024 version:

  • Telescoping pole from 79.9″–118″
  • 8″ chain with no tool adjustment
  • 20V
  • Features auto oiler to extend chain life
  • Offers a soft grip
  • Comes with a lithium ion battery with battery life indicator

Ferrex is not a separate company. Instead, it’s the private label Aldi uses for various tools and yardwork supplies.

Aldi has not yet published warranty information about the 2025 pole saw, but the 2022 model came with a three-year warranty serviced by Positec, a common Aldi warranty provider.

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t yet purchased this cordless pole saw, so we don’t know how well it works or how long it lasts. We write open threads so readers can talk about Aldi products.

  1. I just hope I make it to Aldi’s to purchase a Pole Saw We’ve been wanting to purchase one for a few years but never really had the money but thankfully we do this year so I’m scrambling to get dressed to get to Aldi’s to grab one before they’re all sold out

  2. Just bought the pole saw today & charging the battery (5hrs.) I think
it is a great buy. E-bay has extra battery for $23. I will let you know how well it works.

    1. Bought the pole saw today. What is the part number in eBay for the replacement battery. I did not see it. Thankd

  3. Another fantastic Aldi Ferrex tool at great price and super warranty. What is there not to like.

Waiting for more of their products.

  4. Used it today on thin tree branches….it does NOT make a clean cut, maybe its me or the saw, I don’t know but it feels like you have to be the right height to use it comfortably too. My arm span is not tall so it doesn’t feel right or comfortable for me…I might return this.

  5. Bought, charged and used it today. It’s definitely top heavy, but that’s the nature of this type of tool. I cut a few dead limbs without any trouble. At full extension the extension pole seems pretty flimsy. Extra care should probably be taken to insure that it doesn’t bend at full extension. I did sharpen the blade and it seems to cut better. Unknown for how many cuts the battery will last. I plan on putting it to the test this weekend while hanging deer stands.

  6. I missed it this year. Either our local stores did not sell it or I overlooked them or they were sold out. I hope to see this next year. I did get the chainsaw though and hope to try it out after it stops raining.

  7. I would like to get another battery for it. Where can I purchase one. It work great and was very surprised how long the battery lasted and how much I got to trim around the yard with it. I need another battery so I can take out in the woods for my property up north

  8. I purchased a ferrex 20V cordless pole saw 2 yrs ago but the battery died. is there any way to get a replacement?

  9. I Was lucky enough to grab a Ferrex pole saw from Aldi, cheap last yr 2023. Didn’t need to use it so I stored it in the box, in my locked garage until current. Opened the box only to see all accessory boxes were empty. No charger, no Battery! They left the bar oil! I’m will to pay my stupid tax for not opening the box sooner. I can’t find info for replacement parts for this brand. Any information is greatly appreciated.

    1. If it came with a warranty, I’d recommend contacting the company that services the warranty. Otherwise, you can try returning it to Aldi for a refund. If you don’t have your receipt since it’s been a while, they would likely give you store credit.

    2. I just opened the one I bought in the fall and found the same thing— no charger, no battery, accessory box taped shut but empty. Argh!

    1. I bought this pole saw in Oct of 2024, just went to use it and the battery won’t charge. I had it on the charger overnight and the charger is green. When I go to start the saw there is no power. The charge indicator on the battery has no lights. Am I doing something wrong or did I get a dud battery? I really don’t want to buy a $30 battery for a $50 pole saw.

  10. The Battery Pack (Model ZDBP2004, SN:2020060) charger for my Ferrex 20V Cordless Pole Saw (Product Code: 827491) was lost in a move. Where can I purchase a compatible replacement charger?

  11. I bought one yesterday. I brought it home charged the battery. Today I used it. The battery lasted about 30 minutes with steady use. I like that it’s light weight and has quite a few user friendly adjustments. It’s definitely not a commercial unit but gets the job done. I would recommend this for light homeowner use. I will be ordering extra batteries for mine. (Wish they had a longer run time.)

    1. There is one brand that is exactly the same as Ferrex brand called WESCO 20V 4.0Ah Li-ion Battery Pack ASIN B08R63RGX5 on Ebay or Amazon

  12. Just picked one up from our local Aldi. I haven’t used it yet, but that $50 price point for a tool I had had already been window shopping for was too hard to pass up.

  13. Looked long an hard for a additional battery and found the proper one although not called Ferrex. There is one brand that is exactly the same as Ferrex brand called WESCO 20V 4.0Ah Li-ion Battery Pack ASIN B08R63RGX5 on Ebay or Amazon

  14. Tools that use lithium batteries should always be charged before storing them away. You will find that if store them away discharged, and try to charge the battery to use them months later, the battery will no longer hold a charge. This goes for any lithium battery, whether a work tool or an e-bike. Charge before storing it away. Also, not a good idea to leave them constantly charging. Used a laptop constantly plugged in and after a few years when trying to run it on the battery, it wouldn’t hold a charge. Just my observation.

  15. Bought this saw a couple years ago but didn’t use it for a year. At first seem like a good product. After using twice the chain tensioner failed. I tried to contact customer service which was a disaster. Could not get rep to understand what part i was talking about. Finally after sending several pictures he still could not understand I was asking I there was something I could do to fix the part. Finally he said they would replace the part for FREE. It was only going to cost $29 in S&H. I declined that deal. So I guess I am stuck with a usless tool unless someone can tell me how to fix it.

  16. Bought this tool in 24 and did not use it until now, spring of 25.

I’m impressed. It did take me a couple of tries to get the hang of the chain tensioner, but once I got it, it was smooth sailing.

The tool is decently built and has surprising power. I did not apply much pressure, letting the weight of the tool and the chain do most of the work. It made quick work of all the small to medium branches I had to deal with. I never had the tool stall.

What was perhaps most surprising was how long the 2 ah battery lasted. I had made cuts in all three of my backyard trees and was done with pruning when it finally gave out. The efficiency of the brushless motor was a surprise.

I’m afraid that once the battery expires, it will be hard to find a replacement, it does however look suspiciously like a Bauer battery from HF.

I regret not getting the chainsaw.

  17. I bought a Ferrex 20V Cordless Pole Saw, but can’t find a charger for its 20v max/18v lithium battery. Can you tell me where I can find one? Thank you.

  18. I’m also having trouble replacing charger. Contacted merotec for help; gave email address, referred me to force co for parts, email address was invalid.
    Email finally sent. Waiting reply.
Whole seems like passing the buck, til you give up

  19. Looked long an hard for a additional battery and found the proper one although not called Ferrex. The brand that is EXACTLY the same as Ferrex brand called which also comes with a charger brand named WESCO 20V 4.0Ah Li-ion Battery Pack ASIN B08R63RGX5 on Ebay or Amazon.

  20. I bought it this year (2025).
I have no experience with chain saws, but any tools I have purchased at ALDI have all been great. However, I cannot get the chain to stay on. I followed the directions, took it apart and put it back together three times. Nope. Maybe others will have better luck. Also note that while an oil bottle comes with it, actual chain saws lubricants needs to be purchased before operation.

  21. Has anyone had trouble getting this pole saw to turn on after assembly? I press the lockout button and the trigger and nothing happens. The battery is fully charged. I noticed two prongs in the saw head that apparently fit inside a plug in the pole when you attach it. Is the problem that they’re not connecting?

      1. Bernice, I returned the saw for a replacement, which has worked fine. The battery did not seem to recharge fully at first, but it did the next day. I’m keeping an eye on the return window in case this saw also fails.

  22. Bought one today. Pretty flimsy feeling but that’s to be expected. Uncomfortable to use but worked OK for about 7-8 cuts, then the chain fell off the bar. Took it apart, re-positioned, tightened it down good and it went one more cut before falling off again. Now it’s jammed tight and can’t be adjusted so I’m taking it back. Had much better luck with their string trimmer.

  23. My pole saw chain locks up on the branch and it just clicks continuously until I pull it off the branch and restart the saw. I then set it back on the cut and it locks up on the cut again. Is there any way of tightening the clutch on this Ferrex cordless pole saw??
