Fit & Active Vitality Cereal with Red Berries

Breakfast is self-serve in my house. Every family member has varying schedules and different dietary needs and preferences. Some of us eat plain yogurt with fruit and granola, or whole grain toast with natural peanut butter and jam. Others prefer homemade oatmeal cooked in the microwave. Still others turn to a bowl of cereal.

For the cereal eaters in my household, one particular cereal from Aldi tends to stand out above the rest. The box states it compares to name-brand Special K Red Berries, and it features crunchy rice and wheat flakes with dried strawberries.

Fit & Active Vitality Cereal with Red Berries is a Regular Buy, which means you should find it at Aldi year round. You’ll find it stocked among the other boxed cereals.

We buy Aldi products with our own money. I paid $2.69 for an 11.2-ounce box in 2025. That comes out to about 24 cents per ounce. One box has about eight 1-cup servings, which is about 34 cents per serving.

For comparison, name-brand Special K with Red Berries cost $3.98 for an 11.4-ounce box, or $4.98 with a 15.6-ounce family size box, at Walmart in 2025. That comes out to 35 cents per ounce and 32 cents per ounce respectively. That makes the Aldi cereal the better deal.

Ingredients for the Aldi cereal include whole grain wheat, rice, sugar, dried strawberries, wheat bran, salt, barley malt extract, molasses, and various vitamins and minerals.

If you’re looking out for allergens, this contains wheat.

A 1-cup serving has 140 calories, 0.5 grams of total fat (0% DV), no saturated fat, 190 mg of sodium (8% DV), 33 grams of total carbohydrates (12% DV), 3 grams of dietary fiber (10% DV), 11 grams of total sugars, 10 grams of added sugars (19% DV), and 3 grams of protein.

This has a carbs-to-fiber ratio of 11:1, which is not quite ideal, but it’s not terrible either.

This is a solid choice for a breakfast cereal. It does have some added sugars, but not as much as some other popular cereals on the market. This has a decent amount of dried strawberries in it, but we like to boost the fruit content by adding either fresh sliced strawberries or some of the packaged freeze-dried strawberries Aldi sells among its trail mix and nuts.

The Verdict:

Fit & Active Vitality Cereal with Red Berries is comparable to name-brand Special K with Red Berries. We think this is one of the better cereals at Aldi, and it’s especially good if you add extra fresh or dried strawberries to it.
