Trader Joe’s Organic Tart Cherry Fruit Spread

I’ve been craving cherries lately. Fresh cherries as a snack. Cherry jam from a local grocery store spread on whole grain toast with peanut butter. Frozen cherries incorporated into plain yogurt with granola for breakfast.

When I saw Trader Joe’s, which is a cousin to Aldi, advertising a tart cherry fruit spread recently, I added it to my shopping list.

Trader Joe's Organic Tart Cherry Fruit Spread

Trader Joe’s Organic Tart Cherry Fruit Spread cost $4.29 for a 15-ounce jar in 2025. We bought this with our own funds.

Ingredients are organic tart cherries, organic cane sugar, water, pectin, and citric acid (acidifier).

The label warns this may contain pits or pit fragments. This is sold on room-temperature shelves at Trader Joe’s, but it should be refrigerated after opening. This is USDA organic and certified organic by Midwest Organic Services Association.

One jar has about 24 one-tablespoon servings. One serving has 25 calories, no fat, 5 mg of sodium (0% DV), 6 grams of total carbohydrates (2% DV), no dietary fiber, 6 grams of total sugars, 6 grams of added sugars (12% DV), and no protein.

This is a good fruit spread. I like that it’s different from the more common strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, or grape fruit spreads you typically see in the grocery store. It isn’t overly sweet, and it has small chunks of cherries that give it some variation in consistency. I usually eat this spread on top of whole grain toast with peanut butter, but it would also be good stirred into yogurt, spread on biscuits, or any other way you would serve jam or fruit spread.

The Verdict:

Trader Joe’s Organic Tart Cherry Fruit Spread is worth a try if you like cherries. It has a slightly chunky consistency and is mildly sweet. We’ll probably stock up on a few jars of this during our next TJ’s shopping trip.
