Kirkwood All Natural Frozen Ground Turkey
Turkey burgers are a more recent part of the regular dinner menu rotation in my house. We used to enjoy the occasional beef burger, either purchased ready-made from Aldi or made from grass-fed ground beef purchased from a local farm.
With my family’s renewed commitment to eating healthier this year, we’ve swapped out turkey burgers for beef burgers. Ready-made turkey burgers are a little less common in the grocery store, and Aldi doesn’t sell them, at least not with any regularity. However, turkey burgers are easy to make using ground turkey and a few simple ingredients you might already have in your pantry.
I often use fresh ground turkey from Aldi to make our turkey burgers.
If you want a slightly cheaper option, Aldi also sells rolls or rounds of frozen ground turkey. You might have to look a little harder for the frozen ground turkey. It’s sold in small, nondescript packages in the freezer aisle, and it can be easy to miss.
Kirkwood All Natural Frozen Ground Turkey is a Regular Buy at Aldi. That means you can find it in the store all year.
We buy Aldi products for review using our own money. I paid $2.49 for 1 pound in early 2025.
Not surprisingly, this frozen ground turkey is a bit cheaper than buying fresh ground turkey at Aldi. As of early 2025, fresh ground turkey cost $2.93 per pound for 85% lean that’s sold in a 3-pound package (the frozen ground turkey is also 85% lean). It cost $3.68 per pound for 93% lean ground turkey at Aldi. Aldi also sells 99% fat free ground turkey breast for $4.99. What you prefer may depend on what fat content you want, as well as convenience related to fresh versus frozen.

As mentioned above, the frozen ground turkey at Aldi is 85% lean, with 15% fat. The label states it contains up to 3% retained water.
This is sold under the Kirkwood brand. That’s not a company. Instead, it’s the private label Aldi puts on various poultry products it sells, which it might source from different suppliers.
The nutrition information panel indicates there are four servings per package. (This would make four quarter-pound burger patties, for instance.) One serving has 220 calories, 17 grams of total fat (22% DV), 5 grams of saturated fat (24% DV), 85 mg of sodium (4% DV), no carbohydrates or dietary fiber or sugars, and 17 grams of protein.

I thawed this in my refrigerator overnight and made homemade turkey burger patties to cook on the grill. They turned out great. I’ll be keeping my freezer stocked with this ground turkey. It tastes as good as the fresh 85% lean ground turkey at Aldi, and it’s cheaper. Also, it appears to use less plastic packaging than the fresh option.
The Verdict:
Kirkwood All Natural Frozen Ground Turkey is a slightly more economical option compared to fresh ground turkey at Aldi, and it’s a great alternative to ground beef. We initially tried the frozen ground turkey by making homemade turkey burgers. It would also be good in chili, tacos, casseroles, or whatever else you need ground turkey for.

Are there any other ingredients listed? Like rosemary extract?
Just turkey.
We have tried numerous times to get this at Aldi and it is not there. Have they recalled it?
It’s in stock at our local stores in the Midwest, so we’re not sure why it wouldn’t be at your store.
