Park Street Deli Green Goddess Chicken Salad + Lemon Poppy Seed Chicken Salad

Chicken salad is a quintessential summer food. It’s cool and refreshing on a hot day, making it perfect for lunch or dinner when you pair it with crackers, bread, or croissants, or even spoon it on top of a lettuce salad. Served with some fresh fruit, it makes a complete meal.

I like to make my own chicken salad from scratch, but sometimes I’ll pick up the ready-made chicken salad in the deli aisle at Aldi. The discount grocer sells an original version of chicken salad and a cranberry almond version year round as Regular Buys.

Sometimes Aldi also sells specialty chicken salads for a limited time. This summer, I spotted a green goddess chicken salad and a lemon poppy seed chicken salad as limited-edition specials. I picked up one of each to try.

Park Street Deli Green Goddess Chicken Salad and Park Street Deli Lemon Poppy Seed Chicken Salad are both Aldi Finds. That means they’re only in stores for a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone unless Aldi decides to bring them back later. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that are out of stock at your local store.

While these are in stock at Aldi, you’ll find them in the refrigerated Aldi Find aisle. They are perishable and should be kept refrigerated.

These each cost $4.29 for a 12-ounce container at the time of publication. That comes out to about 36 cents per ounce. Each container has about 3.5 servings that are 1/3 of a cup each, which comes out to about $1.23 per serving.

If you’re looking out for allergens, both chicken salad varieties contain eggs, milk, and wheat.

This features premium white meat chicken with mayonnaise, sour cream, and seasonings. It’s inspired by green goddess salad dressing, which likely originated in 1923 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. The recipe reportedly was developed in honor of actor George Arliss and his play, The Green Goddess. The salad dressing usually contains mayo, sour cream, chervil or French parsley, chives, anchovies, tarragon, lemon juice, and pepper. You can buy green goddess salad dressing today under brands such as Kraft or Annie’s.

This green goddess chicken salad was hands down the favorite of the two among our taste testers. It’s creamy, with a distinct sour cream flavor and a nice mix of herbs. I ate this on some Simply Nature Organic Sourdough Multigrain Bread (also a limited-time Aldi Find), and it was an excellent combo. Other family members enjoyed this with Aldi Thin Wheat Crackers.

This features premium white meat chicken. Our taste testers could take or leave this chicken salad variety. I ate a few bites of it on Aldi sourdough multigrain bread, and that was enough for me. This chicken salad contains small pieces of apricots and has an overall sweeter flavor, and it just didn’t do it for me. I love lemon poppy seed baked goods, so I was a little disappointed in this.
