Sundae Shoppe Mermaid Cones

When Aldi released the Sundae Shoppe unicorn and galactic cones back in 2020, they were a hit with our family. The themes were fun and the ice cream was tasty. So there was no way we would pass up the chance to buy more of these delicious cones, now with a mermaid theme.

Sundae Shoppe Mermaid Cones

Sundae Shoppe Mermaid Cones are an Aldi Find, which means they’re only in stores for a short time. Once they’re sold out, you won’t be able to get them in stores until they come back, if they ever come back at all. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that aren’t in stock at your local store.

These cones are made in Slovenia by the company Leone, which is the same company that made the unicorn and galactic cones in 2020 as well as some Aldi snowman ice cream pops back in 2019. The mermaid cones are $3.99 for a pack of four, or a dollar apiece.

It’s no surprise that these things are unhealthy. One cone has 190 calories, 9g of total fat, 29g of carbohydrates, and 17g grams of total sugar. As for allergens, these cones contain wheat, soy, and milk, and they could contain tree nuts and peanuts.

Like the other cones, the mermaid cones come wrapped in a unique way. There is foil paper wrapped around the cone, and a plastic dome over the top to protect the delicate swirl of ice cream on the top. Right out of the packaging, they have a very similar look to the other cones produced by Leone, aside from colors. The swirl of ice cream is green, with blue-colored raspberry sauce on it. All three of the types of Leone-produced cones we’ve purchased have the same sauce, but the color is changed for some of the cones. There are round, multicolored sprinkles to top it all off.

The wafer cone has a hard chocolate coating on the inside, which increases the appeal of finishing of the cone, even with the ice cream gone. While the ice cream tastes good, one thing I’ve found is that the unicorn, galactic, and mermaid cones all have a similar, fruity taste.

All three of the different themed cones get bonus points for being creative, fun, and unique. While the mermaid theme really just means they stuck some mermaid images on the box, the cones are fun, and much different from the generic tubs of ice cream and popsicles Aldi usually sells.

The Verdict:

The Sundae Shoppe Mermaid cones are fun, and they would definitely add a little something to a party or other summer celebration. With their fun aesthetic and their fruity taste, I highly doubt there would be any regrets.
