Simply Nature Organic Skinny Chai Tea Latte

I enjoy making homemade coffee shop-style drinks that cost a fraction of what I’d pay at a coffee shop. I also try to limit my sugar intake where I can, so I’m always on the lookout for grocery store coffee shop drinks that advertise reduced sugar. Traditional drinks can be so intensely sweet that I appreciate the ones that have less sugar, so I can taste other flavors.

Aldi occasionally sells some tea latte drink mixes, including chai and dirty chai. I like them all, but they have as much sugar as many desserts, so I rarely indulge in them.

Then, in September of 2025, I saw a new variety of tea latte mix among the bunch. This time, it’s a “skinny” chai tea latte mix. It still has enough added sugar (13 grams per serving) that I won’t make it an everyday drink. However, when the regular chai latte mix Aldi sold alongside this one has 24 grams of added sugars, it’s an improvement. I picked up a carton to try at home.

I never saw Aldi advertise this during the late summer/fall of 2025, but I found it in one of my local Aldi stores in mid September. We here at Aldi Reviewer call this a “stealth release.” It was stocked among other limited-edition food Aldi Finds.

The Simply Nature Organic Skinny Chai Tea Latte Black Tea Concentrate appears to be an Aldi Find. That means each store should receive one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back. Aldi does not offer online ordering for this if it’s out of stock at your local store.

We buy Aldi products for review using our own funds. I paid $3.99 for a 32-ounce container at my local Aldi in 2025. That comes out to about 12 cents per ounce. Each container makes about five servings, which comes out to around 80 cents per serving.

This is certified organic by Quality Assurance International.

Ingredients are water, organic cane sugar, and 2% or less of organic instant black tea, organic honey, citric acid (acidity regulator), organic natural flavor, and natural flavor.

One 3/4-cup serving has 60 calories, no fat or sodium, 14 grams of total carbohydrates (5% DV), no dietary fiber, 13 grams of total sugars, 13 grams of added sugars (26% DV), and no protein.

The nutrition facts are probably only for the mix itself, so keep in mind that you’ll have extra calories once you add milk or a milk substitute to make the whole drink.

(For comparison, the regular chai tea latte mix sold alongside this skinny version has 100 calories, 24 grams of total carbohydrates, and the aforementioned 24 grams of added sugars.)

The carton has directions for preparing your skinny chai latte. Shake the carton to mix the contents. Mix equal parts concentrate with milk or a milk substitute. To serve hot, heat on the stove or in the microwave to your desired temperature. To serve cold, pour over ice or chill in the refrigerator.

Do not freeze or microwave the package. This is sold on room-temperature shelves, but it should be refrigerated after opening. It should be used within 21 days.

I tried this hot and it’s very good, with all the classic notes of chai spice. It’s still quite sweet, and I feel like the sugar could be reduced even more. If you had me do a blindfolded taste test, I’d assume this was the full sugar version.

Some readers have previously suggested blending these mixes with some unsweetened black tea or chai to dilute the sugar, and then adding the milk in an equal amount, so that’s something I might experiment with. I’ll update this post if I try that.

The Verdict:

Simply Nature Organic Skinny Chai Tea Latte Black Tea Concentrate has a bit less added sugar and fewer calories than the regular chai tea latte concentrate Aldi sells alongside this. We like this lower-sugar option, although we still feel like it’s quite sweet. We’d love to see more products like this that don’t use sugar substitutes but rather use regular sugar in lower amounts.
