Trader Joe’s: Bite Size Everything Crackers

It’s been acknowledged that the seasoning mix for everything bagels is pretty terrific, especially with the proliferation of Everything But the Bagel Seasoning at Trader Joe’s and Who Needs the Bagel? seasoning at Aldi. Trader Joe’s, which is Aldi’s distant cousin, takes the phenomenon to another level by combining bagel seasoning mix with crackers to create Everything Crackers.

Trader Joe's Bite Size Everything Crackers

Trader Joe’s Bite Size Everything Crackers cost $2.49 for a 10-oz. box at the time of publication. The package describes them as “crackers topped with garlic, onion, sesame, poppy, & caraway seeds.” They contain no artificial colors or flavor and no preservatives.

One serving consists of 14 crackers (30 grams), and each box has about nine servings. The primary ingredient is unbleached enriched flour, and the rest of the ingredients list is mostly straightforward.

The crackers also contain high oleic sunflower oil, which helps to keep products shelf stable and is high in monounsaturated fats. A nutritionist blogger states that high oleic oil is only found in packaged, processed foods, but if you’re going to buy that type of food it’s better than trans (hydrogenated oil) and saturated fats.

The crackers are a product of Canada, and people with allergies should be aware they contain wheat and soy, and they may contain traces of milk.

I thought these crackers were not bad but were a bit underwhelming when eaten alone. They’re fine if you’re looking for a multi-grain-style cracker, but they didn’t scream “everything bagel” to me. However, they were great when eaten with egg salad, and my kids and I ate them eagerly when “dipped” in homemade egg salad on a recent outing when we had to pack lunches.

The Verdict:

Trader Joe’s Bite Size Everything Crackers are a good snack either by themselves or with a dip like hummus or egg salad, but they don’t taste as much like an everything bagel as I was hoping they would. They’re not full of many unidentifiable ingredients, though, and are overall pretty decent.
