Trader Joe’s Organic Family Size Cheese & Tomato Pizza
One category that Trader Joe’s — which is a cousin to Aldi — doesn’t seem to sell as much of is frozen pizza. TJ’s does sell some frozen pizzas. We’ve written about their uncured pepperoni pizza, for example. But nothing compares to the sheer volume of pizzas that rotate through the Aldi Find freezer case.
One of the pizzas you will find in the Trader Joe’s freezer aisle is this simple cheese and tomato option. It’s large and is marketed as a family size. It features mozzarella, provolone, and emmentaler cheeses, and it’s hand made and cooked in woodburning ovens.
I picked one up to try during a family pizza night.
We bought Trader Joe’s Organic Family Size Cheese and Tomato Pizza with our own money for review. I paid $5.99 for a 17.8-ounce pizza in 2024. That’s around 34 cents per ounce.
This is a product of Italy. It was certified organic by Quality Assurance International. It’s also USDA Organic.
If you’re looking out for allergens, this contains milk and wheat. It may contain traces of soy.
The ingredients list is all familiar things: wheat flour, various cheeses, tomato puree, oil, salt, yeast, and oregano.

One pizza has four servings. A serving has 340 calories, 16 grams of total fat (21% DV), 8 grams of saturated fat (40% DV), 470 mg of sodium (20% DV), 35 grams of total carbohydrates (13% DV), 3 grams of dietary fiber (11% DV), 7 grams of total sugars, no added sugars, and 16 grams of protein.
The box has directions for heating this from frozen in a conventional oven. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Remove all packaging. Place the pizza directly on the center rack in the oven. (I used a pizza pan.) Heat for 12-15 minutes. For a crispier crust, bake an additional minute.
The package has a serving suggestion: try using the pizza as a base for your favorite pizza toppings. Add your desired ingredients and add 2-3 minutes to the bake time.

This came out of the box with some char marks on it from having previously been baked in a wood burning oven, so if you don’t like bits of crust edges that are well done, just be aware. (Some of our younger taste testers made mild complaints.)
The pizza heated up just fine in my oven, and it tastes good. The crust is crispy and chewy, and the sauce and cheese topping are flavorful. While we ate it plain, I can see how this would be a good base to add your own additional toppings to.
The Verdict:
Trader Joe’s Organic Family Size Cheese and Tomato Pizza is a good basic pizza with a nice crust thanks to baking in a wood burning oven. You can eat it as is, with just the cheese topping, or add extra toppings of your choice for a custom pizza.
