Trader Joe’s Thai Style Red Curry Soup
Trader Joe’s offers some interesting ready-to-serve meals in its refrigerated aisle. We’ve picked up everything from turkey apple cheddar sandwiches and buffalo chicken wraps to lobster bisque and tomato feta soup.
I was recently in the mood for soup, and I picked up some Thai style red curry soup from the TJ’s refrigerator case. It didn’t disappoint.
We buy products for review using our own money. I paid $4.99 for a 20-ounce container of Trader Joe’s Thai Style Red Curry Soup in 2026. That comes out to about 25 cents per ounce. One container has about 2.5 servings, which is about $2 per serving.
The container I bought had a best-by date of about 3 to 4 weeks out from my date of purchase.
The container states this features pumpkin, white chicken meat, ginger, and lemongrass. It has a lot more, too, including coconut milk, onions, bell peppers, garlic, green beans, coconut cream, carrots, and celery.

If you’re looking out for allergens, this contains soy and coconut. It is gluten free.

One 1-cup serving has 150 calories, 8 grams of total fat (10% DV), 6 grams of saturated fat (30% DV), 760 mg of sodium (33% DV), 12 grams of total carbohydrates (4% DV), less than 1 gram of dietary fiber (3% DV), 3 grams of total sugars, 1 gram of added sugars (2% DV), and 7 grams of protein.

The container has instructions for heating the soup in the microwave or on the stove top.
To microwave, remove the lid, pierce the film, and microwave on high for 3-4 minutes or until heated through, stirring once. Allow to sit for 1 minute before serving. Remove the film carefully.
(Alternatively, you could pour the contents into a microwave-safe dish and heat it in that, if you don’t want to microwave the plastic container the soup comes in.)
To heat on the stove top, pour the contents into a 2-quart saucepan and heat on medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes or until heated through. Allow to sit 1 minute before serving. I opted to heat my soup on the stove.

I very much liked this soup. It’s mildly spicy, with an interesting combination of flavors in a broth with notes of coconut and tomato, with small pieces of green beans, onion, and other veggies. There are also some small and large chunks of chicken. I broke up some of the chicken pieces to make them all a more uniform size. All the ingredients work well together, and it was hard to not want to eat the entire container in one sitting.
I won’t buy this often because it has its share of fat and sodium, but I’d buy it again as an occasional indulgence when I want a quick and easy lunch.
The Verdict:
Trader Joe’s Thai Style Red Curry Soup features a coconut milk base with an interesting blend of veggies, spices, and chicken. It’s mildly spicy. We like this soup as an easy meal in itself or as a side served with a larger meal. If you enjoy Thai food, give this a try.
