Trader Joe’s Tomato Feta Soup
If there is any type soup my family eats the most, it would have to be tomato soup. While we’re fond of cheesy ham and broccoli soup, and cheeseburger paradise soup is also a favorite, nothing compares to tomato soup when it comes to comfort food. That’s especially the case if that tomato soup is paired with a hearty bread or a grilled cheese sandwich for dipping.
I’ve got a tried and true recipe for making homemade tomato soup in my slow cooker, but we also eat our share of store-bought, ready-made tomato soups. We’re partial to Campbell’s, but Aldi also sometimes sells some refrigerated and frozen tomato soups. And we’ve found some good shelf-stable cartons of tomato soup at Trader Joe’s, which is a cousin to Aldi.
During a recent TJ’s shopping trip, I also found some tomato feta soup in the refrigerator aisle. This was stocked among some other ready-made soups, including clam chowder and Unexpected Broccoli Cheddar.
I picked up a container of the tomato feta soup to try at home. The container describes this as “slow simmered tomatoes finished with light cream and feta cheese.”
We buy products with our own money for review. I paid $4.49 for a 20-ounce container of this soup at my local Trader Joe’s in 2024. That comes out to about 22 cents per ounce. With about 2.5 servings per container, that’s about $1.80 per serving.
This is perishable and should be kept refrigerated. The soup I bought had a use-by date of about a month from the date I purchased it.

If you’re looking out for allergens, this contains milk.
The full ingredients list includes water, ground tomatoes, onions, light cream, tomato paste, feta cheese, carrots, olive oil, sea salt, rice starch, garlic, parsley, dried basil, bay leaves, dried oregano, cayenne pepper, and white pepper.

One container has about 2.5 one-cup servings. One serving has 130 calories, 7 grams of total fat (9% DV), 3.5 grams of saturated fat (18% DV), 800 mg of sodium (35% DV), 14 grams of total carbohydrates (5% DV), 3 grams of dietary fiber (11% DV), 8 grams of total sugars, no added sugars, and 4 grams of protein.
The label has instructions for heating this in the microwave or on the stovetop.
To microwave, remove the lid, pierce the film, and microwave on high for 3-4 minutes or until heated through. Allow the soup to sit for one minute before serving. Remove the film carefully.
To heat on the stove, pour the soup into a 2-quart saucepan and heat on high for 3-5 minutes or until heated through, stirring occasionally.

I heated this on the stovetop and served it alongside a grilled cheese and tuna sandwich made with Aldi Graintastic bread. It’s a slightly chunky tomato soup, with small bits of diced tomato and onions, and I could see small crumbles of feta cheese in the soup. It tastes like a fancy tomato soup I might get at a restaurant. I also like that it doesn’t have any added sugars, as some other prepared tomato soups I’ve had are overly sweet, but that is not the case with this soup.
The Verdict:
Trader Joe’s Tomato Feta Soup is a refrigerated ready-made soup at Aldi’s cousin. It’s somewhat chunkier, with pieces of diced tomato and onion. It’s a savory, not-too-sweet soup, which we like. The small crumbles of feta cheese are a nice addition to this soup, which tastes like what you might get at a gourmet bistro.
