Winternacht Erdnussberge Peanut Clusters with Milk or Dark Chocolate

It’s once again that time of year when Aldi stocks all sorts of treats in its holiday Winternacht product line. Winternacht is a German word that translates to “winter night,” and many of the desserts in the Winternacht line are actually imported from Germany. It’s always nice to see Aldi selling foods that give a nod to its origins.

Many Winternacht products are sugary, carb-laden, heavy kinds of confections such as stollen, panettone, spekulatius, pfeffernüsse, and various chocolates and cookies. They tend to go great with a hot cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa, or even a glass of cold milk. (Keep in mind that Winternacht is not a company; it’s just the name Aldi gives to certain seasonal treats it sells.)

I love trying new foods, especially when they’re from other countries. The Winternacht line can be hit or miss for me in terms of what I like, but I recently spotted some chocolate peanut clusters that looked like a winner. I wasn’t wrong.

Winternacht Erdnussberge Peanut Clusters with Milk Chocolate or Dark Chocolate are Seasonal Items at Aldi, which means they’re in stores for only a couple of months. Aldi keeps these around during the winter holiday season, and once the holidays are over, they don’t get restocked until a year later. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that have sold out at your local store.

Winternacht Erdnussberge Peanut Clusters with Milk Chocolate or Dark Chocolate cost $2.99 for an 8.82-ounce package at the time of publication. That comes out to about 34 cents per ounce, or, with about eight servings per package that’s about 37 cents per serving.

You might be able to find other chocolate-covered peanut clusters at your local regular grocery store, and they may or may not be at a lower price, but they won’t be imported from Germany like these ones are. (You could also make these easily yourself, but sometimes we all need a little convenience.)

Erdnussberge translates to “peanut mountains” in English, and that’s exactly what these are. They consist solely of peanuts generously covered with either milk chocolate or dark chocolate.

There are no surprises here. It’s chocolate and peanuts, which is always a good combination. My family prefers the sweetness of the milk chocolate variety, but the dark chocolate ones are good, too. The chocolate in both versions is smooth and melts in your mouth, while the peanuts add just the right amount of crunch. This is also very filling thanks to those protein-packed peanuts.

This would be perfect served as part of a dessert or snack spread, maybe on a charcuterie board. Give it as a teacher, coworker, or neighbor gift. Put it in someone’s Christmas stocking. Or simply enjoy it yourself.

The Verdict:

Winternacht Erdnussberge Peanut Clusters with Milk Chocolate or Dark Chocolate feature peanuts covered with either milk chocolate or dark chocolate, depending on which version you buy. Erdnussberge is a German word that means “peanut mountains.” This is a fantastic candy treat imported from Germany. If you know someone who likes peanuts, you can’t go wrong giving them this.

  1. Even better when marked down in our inner city stores after they’re long gone in the ‘burbs. Dark chocolate especially left over. Life is good for those who wait.

  2. Best peanut clusters in the history of peanut clusters.
