WORKZONE 5 Tier Black Shelving Headed to Aldi

This post is an open thread and contains affiliate links

Two years ago, I bought a set of chrome shelves from Aldi that were so good I went back and eventually bought two more sets of shelves to tame some clutter in my basement. My shelves stand 54 inches tall and feature four separate shelves that can each hold a lot of weight. They’re perfect for storing canned goods and shelf-stable food, small appliances, plastic storage totes, luggage, camping supplies, or anything else you need to organize.

Now, Aldi is selling another set of metal shelves that look almost identical except for a few details. This time, they’re black and feature five shelves instead of four. They’re some of the taller shelves I’ve seen Aldi sell, measuring 72 inches tall.

What We Know:

WORKZONE 5 Tier Black Shelving

The WORKZONE 5 Tier Black Shelving (Product Code: 831259) is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back later. Aldi does not offer online ordering for these shelves if they’re sold out at your local store.

These are scheduled to arrive in stores on March 6th, 2024.

The WORKZONE 5 Tier Black Shelving cost $49.99 at the time of publication. That’s less than most similar shelves on Amazon.

Here’s more information about the Aldi shelves:

  • Dimensions: 36″ x 18″ x 72″
  • Robust, versatile shelving is ideal for a utility room, basement, or garage
  • Adjustable shelf heights provide maximum storage options
  • Each shelf can support up to 260 lbs.
  • Total shelving can support 1,300 lbs.
  • Easy assembly, no tools required.

These are sold under the WORKZONE brand, which is not a company. It’s the private label Aldi uses for various tools and workshop accessories.

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t purchased this specific shelving set from Aldi, so we don’t know exactly how easily they assemble or how well they hold up. However, we have bought a similar Aldi shelving set that is excellent. We write open threads so readers can discuss Aldi products.

  1. I bought one of these about 3 years ago and love it. I use it in my garage as a 2nd pantry, and load it up with food cans, boxes, etc. It is very sturdy. Seriously tempted to buy another one. Assembly wasn’t too bad, either.

  2. I have 2 of these in chrome I bought years ago. They are sturdy, easy to put together & hold a ton of stuff. I don’t remember the shelves being adjustable but that could be handy!

  3. The description in the Sales Flyer indicates that this 5 shelf Tier utility shelf is plastic…not metal, not chrome.

    It is black.

    The description states:

    Provides extra storing space
    Product sizes: approx. 31.5 W x15.7 D x70.9 in H
Maximum loading capacity per shelf: approx. 110 lbs

    Easy to clean
    Product Code: 833243

    1. Aldi sells different shelf types under similar names. The one you’re talking about is this one, which came out in April of 2024. This open thread describes a different shelf, which was metal and which came out in March of 2024.

  4. I bought this unit (April 2025) black metal. I am unable to get the plastic “clips “ to attach to the legs so I can put the shelves on. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get these to stay on? If not, I will return the unit.

    1. I’m having the same issue. The clips do not fit all the way around the leg in order to snap them together. Even if they did they are cheaply made and I cannot fathom how well they will hold up under the weight of just the shelf being on it, much less items being on those shelves. Sadly this is going back.

      1. Hi Marcia!
We figured out that the “clips around the lags are really held on with pressure they don’t actually clip together. It took two of us to assemble this unit as you have to be able to hold the clips and slide the shelf on at the same time. I suppose this design makes it so
You can change the height of the shelves without breaking the plastic pieces. We did get ours assembled and I am so glad we did. It did make it easier to not t put the legs together first and just start using the lower legs and putting shelves on and then working our way up. I love this shelf but the instructions were not helpful at all.

    2. Super simple assembly. Take the two clips with the words “top” facing the top and place around the post, slide down a small amount till you hear it “Click”into place. Then do the next one etc. It took me 30 min for the first shelving unit. Then about 12 min each (by myself) for the other 7 units I purchased.
