Radiance Multi-Purpose Cleaner with Bleach

Radiance is the private label Aldi puts on various household cleaning products it sells. Certain Radiance products get regular use in my house, especially the disinfectant wipes and the dishwashing liquid. Over the years, Aldi has also retired certain Radiance products that I used to love, including some nice-smelling plant-based cleaning sprays.

I still wish Aldi would bring those natural cleaning sprays back, but in the meantime, I noticed Aldi has started stocking some standard household cleaners under the Radiance brand. These include multi-purpose cleaner, bathroom cleaner, glass cleaner, and toilet bowl cleaner. I decided to pick up one of each to try at home.

Today, I’m looking at the multi-purpose cleaner with bleach.

The label states this “quickly removes unsightly spills, messes and other tough stains from kitchen counters, stovetops, sinks, non-porous surfaces, appliance exteriors and many other unpainted surfaces. Also can be easily used on shower walls, tile, grout, fiberglass and toilet bowls.”

Radiance Multi-Purpose Cleaner with Bleach

Radiance Multi-Purpose Cleaner with Bleach is a Regular Buy, which means you ought to be able to find it all year at your local Aldi store.

This cost $2.29 for a 32-ounce spray bottle at the time of writing. That comes out to about 7 cents per ounce.

For comparison, a 32-ounce bottle of Lysol Multi-Purpose Cleaner with bleach cost $4.47 or about 14 cents per ounce at Walmart at the time of writing. A 32-ounce bottle of Clorox Clean-Up Cleaner with Bleach cost $4.88 or about 15 cents per ounce at Walmart at the time of writing. A 32-ounce bottle of Cloralen Multipurpose Cleaner with Bleach cost $2.47 or about 8 cents per ounce at Walmart at the time of writing, or $1.89 or about 6 cents per ounce at my local Aldi at the time of writing. So the Aldi cleaner is competitively priced, and it is significantly less than some popular name brands.

This Radiance cleaner was made in Türkiye (Turkey).

Ingredients are water, sodium hypochlorite, cocamine oxide, sodium hydroxide, sodium silicate, sodium metaperiodate, fragrance, and limonene.

The label directs to only use in well-ventilated areas. Spray onto the surface to be cleaned, wait five minutes, and rinse clean. One application is usually sufficient, according to the directions. For very heavy buildup, spray and rinse clean again after 30 minutes.

The instructions recommend wearing protective gloves / protective clothing / protective eyewear / face protection while using this. Don’t get it in your eyes or on the skin. Avoid mixing with acid products and ammoniated products. Don’t breathe any fumes or spray, and wash your hands thoroughly after using.

The label also states this may damage painted surfaces, aluminum, brass, copper, galvanized and/or other soft metals.

I’m pretty careful about where I use cleaners with bleach, mostly because I don’t want to accidentally bleach clothing or other items. I do sometimes use cleaning sprays with bleach in the bathrooms, though, particularly on showers and tubs where mildew can build up and things can start to look really grungy.

I used this spray on a tub and on a shower, and it works as well as similar spray brands such as Clorox, Cloralen, Scrubbing Bubbles, and Lysol. It has a bleach scent, but it’s not overpowering. As for a lemon scent, it’s there but mild, and I don’t recommend sniffing too deeply.

The Verdict:

Radiance Multi-Purpose Cleaner with Bleach is similar to name-brand general purpose cleaning sprays with bleach added. It’s cheaper than most name brands and seems to do the job just as well. If you’re looking to save some money on a bleach cleaning spray, give this one a look.
