Radiance Glass Cleaner

While browsing in the household essentials aisle at Aldi recently, I spotted some new cleaning products under the grocer’s Radiance house brand. They included multi-purpose cleaner, bathroom cleaner, glass cleaner, and toilet bowl cleaner. I picked up a bottle of each to try at home.
Radiance is not a company but instead is the name Aldi puts on various cleaning products, ranging from disinfectant wipes to dishwashing liquid. That means Aldi may source its Radiance-branded products from any number of different suppliers.
Here, I’m taking a closer look at the glass cleaner Aldi sells.
Radiance Glass Cleaner appears to be a Regular Buy, which means you should be able to find it at Aldi all year. This was made in Türkiye (Turkey).
This cost $2.29 for a 32-ounce bottle at the time of publication. That comes out to about 7 cents per ounce.
For comparison, a 32-ounce bottle of Great Value Window Cleaner from Walmart cost $1.48 at the time of writing, or about 5 cents per ounce. A 32-ounce bottle of name-brand Windex from Walmart cost $4.17 at the time of writing, or about 13 cents per ounce. So, the Aldi window cleaner is a good price, and it’s a lot less than name brand, but you might find other store brands that cost slightly less than the Aldi stuff.
The Aldi bottle advertises this offers “streak free cleaning.” It says this is “specially formulated for glass cleaning and removes film caused by pollution and weathering without streaking. Glass cleaner is ideal for use in households, restaurants, schools, and office buildings. It cleans and shines glass, mirrors, sinks, countertops, and other washable surfaces.”
Ingredients are water, denatured alcohol, butoxyethanol, ammonium hydroxide, and acid blue 3.
That’s a bit different from what’s in name-brand Windex, although both contain ammonium hydroxide. It’s worth noting that Windex contains fragrance while the Aldi Radiance Window Cleaner does not.
The back of the bottle gives instructions for us. Spray the cleaner on the surface to be cleaned, and then let it stand for 30 seconds. Wipe with a damp cloth, and then wipe with a dry paper towel.
The instructions advise not using this on wood or other varnished surfaces. It’s not recommended for use on film treated windows, painted surfaces, and vehicle dashboards as damage may occur.
The label includes to usual warnings. Don’t swallow it or get it in eyes.
I’ve been using this for a month or two to clean mirrors in my bathrooms and bedrooms, as well as to clean various windows. It works as well as name-brand Windex at getting things clean.
The Verdict:
Radiance Glass Cleaner is an Aldi imitation of name-brand Windex, but without the notable fragrance Windex has. It costs a lot less than Windex, although you might be able to find other generic store brands that cost even less. Overall, though, if you need a cheap window cleaner that does the job well, this one from Aldi works.
