Aldi Bike Accessories

A German grocer is probably not the first place you go looking when you’re in the market for bike accessories. But for those who like pedaling off into the unknown, Aldi does carry some things. Keep in mind that Aldi cycling gear is sold as Aldi Finds, which means they’re only in stores for a short time. Once they’re gone, they’re gone. Most of them are sold under the Bikemate label, which is an Aldi house brand.

  1. Last seek bought the Bikemate LED Bicycle Light Set. Opened packaging yesterday to proceed to set up and installation. Front light would not turn on. Examined battery case internals and discovered that the two soldered connector tabs on the printed board were broken off. No connection, no contact, no light. Plan A – Attempt to return to store for full refund, as it has been less than a week since purchase. Plan B – If they refuse the refund and say the product is covered by the manufacturer warranty, then I will contact them for refund/replacement. If they want the defective unit, I will not pay for shipping. They will, or else…

  2. Any news on the Bikemate bicycle trainer? The magnetic resistance trainer one attaches to bike’s rear tire? I heard all about them last year now nothing… hope to land one, (they are affordable & work).

  3. Joshua,

I bought two sets of the bike lights a few months ago. I just installed on wife’s bike for a trip we planned. The front light works fine (a bit weak for a bicycle at night), the rear light does not work at all. I’m not certain I can find the receipt, so will attempt to get help from the service phone#.

Thanks for the reviews, I’m a solid Aldi Fan.

  4. Had an old bike mate wide seat cover, still in package from Aldi. Bought another bike mate wide seat cover last week at Aldi. The older cover expands to fit a wide seat. The newer one does not. They cut corners in the material and made the opening too narrow so it’s impossible to fit over a wide seat. Will take it back.

  5. I bought the light set today model 2285. The front light worked like it should, the back light I had to dissemble and bend the little tabs that contact the circuit board. Not a big deal but it would have been better if it had been assembled and worked properly. Otherwise the lights and brackets appear to be fairly heavy duty. Installation was easy. I took the bike for a night time ride and the headlight is nice because the way it’s made the light can be seen from the side. It was bright enough to see bumps and pot holes. My main concern is being visible to drivers of vehicles especially when it’s dark, these lights will make biking much safer.
